Meta Junglira Zone (メタジャングリラ[2] Metajangurira?, lit. "Meta Junglira") is the third Zone in Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble for the Sega Game Gear. As with other stages in this game, Meta Junglira consists of two standard acts followed by a shorter, third act which contains the zone's boss.
Overview
Meta Junglira is a sprawling, swampy rainforest. The bottom of the level is filled with viscous, muddy water. Strange basket-like plants above the mud can launch Sonic skywards into a thick canopy of wooden passageways. Bouncy fruits hang from the trees, frequently responsible for rebounding our heroes straight back down to where they came from. Springs both visible and hidden bounce Sonic or Tails into mazes of strange glass balls that bounce them around.
Boss
Wood Buttarundorf is in practice some sort of jauntily-colored robotic tree snake, with a segmented body reminiscent of Gigalopolis Zone's boss mecha in Sonic Chaos. The automaton swings back and forth from the canopy, putting up very little resistance to the player's spin attacks. In fact, Sonic is more likely to die in the aftermath of the fight; once destroyed, burning pieces of the snake's body rain down from the trees, requiring quite nimble dodging.
Chaos Emerald locations
The Chaos Emerald monitors in Meta Junglira Zone can be found in the following locations
- Act 1: Near the Act's start, drop to a moving platform above a brown pool. A tunnel to the left leads to the Chaos Emerald monitor.
- Act 2: Atop the second downward loop two thirds into the Act. If playing as Tails, the player can fly to this Chaos Emerald monitor. If playing as Sonic, use the Pogo Spring near the Act's end to jump across some narrow platforms to reach a crumbling ledge and a tunnel leading to the Chaos Emerald monitor.
In other media
Archie Comics
In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-off comic series published by Archie Comics, the Meta Junglira Zone was named the Meta Jungura Zone. In this media, it appeared during the comics' adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble.
Trivia
- The breakaway bumper in this zone were taken from the Sonic the Hedgehog CD stage, Collision Chaos.
