The Meroke Crystals are objects that appear in the Sonic Boom series They are a type of crystals from the Ancients that are used as sources of power for Hedgehog Village and, to an extension, Dr. Eggman's Lair.[1]
Description[]
Appearance[]
The Meroke Crystals appear as large chunks of turquoise crystals that give off a faint glow. Their surfaces are rugged, but they are generally shaped like waterdrops.
Powers and traits[]
The Meroke Crystals are sources of clean and potent electrical energies, enough to power both the entire Hedgehog Village and Dr. Eggman's Lair at once. However, their capabilities are finite; after several generations of usage, a Meroke Crystal will eventually be drained.[1]
History[]
TV series[]
Past[]
In the Unnamed Village, a Meroke Crystal would be passed down from mayor generation to mayor generation. This crystal served as the secret power supply for the Village, providing power to homes and electronics across Seaside Island from a secret generator in the Mayor's Mansion.[1]
Season two[]
During Mayor Fink's term, the Unnamed Village's Meroke Crystal died out, resulting in a power outage. Fink thus had Team Sonic seek out a replacement crystal from an Ancient temple in the polar regions near the Village which had Stone Guardians that protected the crystal with riddles and obstacles. After overcoming these trials, the team took the Meroke Crystal back to the Mayor's Mansion where it restored the Village's power and brought back civil order.[1]
Trivia[]
- Technology that draws power from crystals is very similar to how the Ancients, a race of technologically advance beings, used the Chaos Crystals as a source of energy to live in harmony with nature in Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric.
- In the Sonic the Hedgehog television series there is an underground city called Lower Mobius which also has a crystal that provide light and electricity to the inhabitants. In "Warp Sonic" the crystal's power was running out which Sonic provided a replacement for.
