Mello is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. He was the adventure-seeking best friend of Charmy Bee who passed away due to overdosing on Lemon Sundrop Dandelion put inside chili dogs while the two were at Happyland.
Appearance[]
Mello was a mobian bee with a yellow and black color scheme and peach skin. He wore a red scarf, red boots with silver knee pads, a blue flying helmet, and thick flying goggles over his eyes.
History[]
Mello met up with Charmy after he left the Golden Hive Colony, refusing to go through with being crowned king. He also mentioned receiving similar responsibilities from his parents (though presumably not royal ones). Deciding to have some fun to forget their parental problems, Mello and Charmy went around to find some fun and ended up at Happyland Amusement Park, an amusement park belonging to Renfield the Rodent.[1][2]
The two entered and had some fun, Mello ate one of the chili dogs loaded with the "secret sauce" Downtown Ebony Hare and Renfield were using on the food. He overdosed on the sauce, and after leaving the park, he collapsed in an alley in front of Charmy. Charmy called for help and found Harry, the Dingo cab driver. He rushed Mello and Charmy to the hospital, and Mello was rushed into surgery. Sadly, Mello died from the poison, and as Charmy attended his funeral, he announced he was leaving the Chaotix and accepting his heritage as prince of the Golden Hive Colony. Sadly, this period of acceptance was short-lived, as the Golden Hive Colony was later invaded by Dr. Eggman's forces.
