The medaka[2][3] (メダカ[4]?) is an animal that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a fish that can be caught during the Fishing Spot minigame.

Description[]

Based on the real-life fish species under the name Japanese rice fish (Oryzias latipes), a single medaka is a small creamy-yellow fish.[3]

Overview[]

In Sonic Frontiers, the medaka is one of many collectable fishes to be earned in Fishing Spot minigame hosted by Big the Cat. When catching one in the Western Fishing Spot, the medaka is worth one Treasure Token. When catching one in the Northern Fishing Spot, the medaka is worth two Treasure Tokens.
