Mechanical Collectible[1] is a quest that appears in Sonic Frontiers. It's a quest hosted by Tails. Its goal is to collect 600 Machine parts before the timer runs out.
Mechanical Collectible takes place across multiple platforms, and occasionally rocky pillars, above a lava pit on Chaos Island. The terrain surrounding the quest is rocky. In the background of the quest, the player can also see the source of the lava, as well as the weapon Sonic collect Machine parts for.
As the game features a day and night cycle, some elements, such as the sky, might look different depending on what moment of the day the player starts the quest.
Story[]
While on Chaos Island, Sonic and Tails were helping a Koco, who was the apprentice to the Ancients' top pilot.[2] As they needed to find the pieces to complete their final weapons, they started looking for them. However, as Tails had problems finding the last pieces, Sonic decided to help, thus starting this quest.[3]
Gameplay[]
Like every other quest, Mechanical Collectible takes place in a small section of the Open-Zone, with no way of getting out. The quest features many gimmicks, from ones which can be found everywhere in the Open-Zone, such as Grind Rails, Dash Panels and Springs to ones exclusive to this quest such as Boxes. The player can also find Switches under some Boxes, which may unlock new paths for the player to take.
In this quest, Sonic has three lifes. If the player falls into the lava, one life will be consumed, and if all three lives are consumed, the quest will automatically ends, restarting from the beginning.
Overview[]
The Mechanical Collectible quest takes place across multiple platforms. The quest's goal is to collect 600 Machine parts, before the time limit is over, which is 140.00 seconds, or 2 minutes and 20 seconds. The quest is hosted by Tails. In this quest, the player starts in the lower sections of this quest and has to work their way up in order to access more Boxes. This quest's layout is pretty straightforward, with little to no alternate pathways.
In order to get Machine parts, the player will have to destroy the boxes, using the Homing Attack. These gimmicks are scattered across the many platforms of this quest. There are three types of boxes in this quest: yellow boxes, which are the most common and can be destroyed in one hit, and blue and purple boxes, which are less common than the yellow ones and take multiple hits to be destroyed. Each box will drop a number of Machine parts.
The quest ends once the player collects 600 Machine parts. If the player fails to do so before the timer runs out, they will have to try again. The reward for this quest is the green Chaos Emerald.
