Boss guide[]
When arriving at the end of the Stage 2 in Tokyo Sky Flight, Mecha Sonic (who is about three-to-four times Sonic's height) will come flying down from the top of the screen and land on the top of a building. From there, it will be vulnerable to attacks. After landing, Mecha Sonic will stand still for a few seconds before using the following attack patterns
- Mecha Sonic will curl into a spiky ball and dash towards the Tornado. However, Mecha Sonic will not change direction once he starts moving forward, meaning the player can easily fly away from its path.
- Mecha Sonic will jump into the air while curled into a spiky ball and launch spikes in the eight cardinal directions. When this happens, it is best to stay as far away from Mecha Sonic as possible in order to slip in-between its launched spikes.
Between its attacks, Mecha Sonic will eventually come to rest on the road or on top of the building, making it open to attacks. Sometimes though, Mecha Sonic will immediately follow one of its attacks up with another, such as dashing towards the Tornado twice in succession or dash towards the Tornado and then launch its spikes. Furthermore, as Mecha Sonic's Health Gauge decreases, it will use its attacks more aggressively and with increased speed. The best strategy here is keep firing at Mecha Sonic with the Tornado's gunshots when it is in the line of sight while avoiding its attacks. Once Mecha Sonic's Health empties, Mecha Sonic will blow up and the player will advance to Stage 3 of Tokyo Sky Flight.
