The Mecha-Bu[1][note 1] is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, rhino beetle-based Badnik model created by Dr. Eggman, and the counterpart of the Mecha-Bu from an alternate dimension set in the recent past.

Appearance

Based on Japanese rhinoceros beetles, Mecha-Bus have a navy blue body with two yellow, red-capped rear-wheels and two small grey forelimbs which have small black wheels with red caps for hands. On the front, they have a black face with two cartoony black eyes, a yellow jaw cap and yellow helmet. Attached to their face is a horn with a buzz-saw.

In Sonic Mania Plus' Encore Mode, Mecha-Bus look similar, except that their bodies are brown instead of blue.

Overview

In Sonic Mania, and its expansion Sonic Mania Plus, Mecha-Bus are enemies found in both Acts of Metallic Madness Zone. In gameplay, they roll slowly along the ground, raising and lowering their buzz-saw horns. However, they are unable to turn around. To destroy them, the player must avoid hitting their buzzsaws and hit their bodies with a Spin Attack-related move. Doing so will release the Animals inside of them and award the player with 100 points. In addition, when performing a Spin Attack-related move, Mighty will be invulnerable to the Mecha-Bus' buzz-saws.

Powers and abilities

Mecha-Bus are each equipped with a buzz-saw on their horns which they can use to cut their opponents.
