Max Speed UP is an installable performance-enhancing component for Extreme Gears. Its actual appearance is unknown, though it is presented as an icon on the head-up display in the top-left corner of the game screen. In gameplay, the player can activate Max Speed UP under special circumstances, which will significantly increase an Extreme Gear's Limit attribute. This will raise the player's overall top speed on the Extreme Gear they are currently using, allowing the player to move faster over greater distances at maximum speed than normal.

Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity[]
Max Speed UP first appeared in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. In this game, its icon is a light blue-colored circle with an image of two black shoes with straps inscribed in it. Here, Max Speed UP is a Gear Part permanently installed into only certain Extreme Gears and is one of the most common Gear Parts.
In gameplay, Max Speed UP and its ability will be disabled when starting a new race. To activate Max Speed UP, the player must press one of the following buttons after collecting a certain number of Rings:

When activating Max Speed UP, the player's Rings will be reduced accordingly by the number needed to enable it and the Extreme Gear is surrounded by an orange void, indicate the Gear Part coming into effect. For the duration of the race, the player's Extreme Gear emits a blue light behind them. If the Extreme Gear has more than one Max Speed UP Gear Parts activated, the color of the light changes to green (two Max Speed UPs) and then red (three Max Speed UPs). The following Extreme Gears come equipped with Max Speed UP:
Max Speed UP made a reappearance in Sonic Free Riders. In this game, its icon is a dark green-colored circle with an lighter green image of a shoe and an arrow going around the shoe's sole and heel inscribed in it. Here, Max Speed UP is a customizable Gear Part that can be attached to different Extreme Gears. It is one of the Gear Parts that can be used from the beginning of the game.
When riding a Board-type Extreme Gear, if Max Speed UP is installed into the front slot, it becomes active in gameplay once the race begins. If installed into the rear slot, however, the player can activate and deactivate Max Speed UP by switching stances by turning their body around due to the Kinect controls of the game.
