The Marve-Shupopolous-Gou[1] (マーベ=シュポポラス号[2]?) is an antagonist that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a large train-based Badnik created and dispatched by Dr. Eggman to deal with Sonic and Tails.
Appearance[]
The Marve-Shupopolous-Gou is an orange-colored, extremely long robotic train-based Badnik, where the entirety of Sunset Park Zone Act 3 takes place.
History[]
Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble[]
In Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble, the Marve-Shupopolous-Gou departed from its train station in Sunset Park Zone when Sonic the Hedgehog and Miles "Tails" Prower made it onboard its cargo containers on the train's rear. When Sonic and Tails made it up to the Marve-Shupopolous-Gou, the robot tried defending itself. However, it was all for nothing, as Sonic and Tails ended up destroying the Marve-Shupopolous-Gou's head, causing the entire train to come to a stop.
Powers and abilities[]
The Marve-Shupopolous-Gou can launch spiky bombs from the back of its head.
Battle[]
The Marve-Shupopolous-Gou is the second boss of Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble. The player fights it at the end of Sunset Park Zone Act 3.
Boss guide[]
After passing the Bonus Panel for Sunset Park Zone Act 2, the playable character ends up standing on top of the cargo containers of the Marve-Shupopolous-Gou. Also, instead of showing a result screen, the Bonus Panel comes off the train as it departs, leading the playable to be seamlessly transitioned into Act 3. It consists of an automated section, where the player runs forward along a high speed freight train. Sonic and Tails are still able to do the Spin Jump and move forwards or backwards. The only hazards in this automatic section are Bombaberries, which normally drop spiky bombs onto the player, and small gaps between the train cars which act like bottomless pits.
When the player has successfully avoided all obstacles, they will eventually reach to the front of the train, where the Marve-Shupopolous-Gou itself is. Upon the playable character's arrival, it will start to fire bombs from its boiler periodically; these can be avoided by jumping over them. As the boss is fought on a fast-moving track, any lost Rings fall to the bottom and are unrecoverable, making it vital to avoid the boss' attacks. The player has to hit a part of the Marve-Shupopolous-Gou's head whilst jumping over the bombs to damage it. After doing this three times, the Marve-Shupopolous-Gou starts exploding with a shocked expression on its face before derailing and coming to a stop. After this, the playable character Spin Dashes off the train and heads to the next Zone.
Trivia[]
- The background music that plays during the Act before the encounter with the Marve-Shupopolous-Gou is a slightly altered unused track from Sonic Chaos, which is accessible in that game's Sound Test.

Trivia[]
- Marve-Shupopolous-Gou's name comes from the English word "marvelous" with the Japanese word "shupo-shupo" in the middle, which is onomatopoeia for the sound a steam train makes. The suffix "-gou" (号?) literally translates to "number" or "version," and is often placed at the end of vehicle names.
