Mantle and his team, the Spider Troupe, were tasked with escorting Team Dark on a trip to destroy the New Black Comet before it invaded the world. Mantle equipped the Giga Trooper during the mission and carried the nuke for the teams. After Shadow the Hedgehog left to cover more ground, Mantle, the Spider Troupe, Rouge the Bat and E-123 Omega found themselves nearly eaten by Death Leeches. Luckily, they got away with the addition of their gas masks.[1][2]

Mantle saved by E-123 Omega, from Sonic Universe #61.

Later on, as Shadow Had seemingly turned against them, Mantle and the Spider Troupe pressed on to set the nuke while Rouge and Omega handled their partner. However, Mantle was swiftly defeated by a Black Oak and was removed from the Giga Trooper. He was going to be used as nutrition for the Eclipse the Darkling's Dark Arms. Luckily, Mantle and his team were found by Rouge and Omega. With this, Mantle left the duo to arm the nuke while he and the Spider Troupe returned to Shuttle Ratatosk with what was left of their strength.[2][3][4]

Mantle is a quite gentle and caring person, helpful enough to support his teammate back to the Shuttle Ratatosk. However, he can become easily frightened as he mainly relies on his Giga Trooper for strength.
