Mangey (マンジー[1] Manjī?), also known as Mangey Tails, is a character that appears in the Sonic Prime television series. He is an orange fox who is the Boscage Maze counterpart of Miles "Tails" Prower who is part of the Scavengers to protect the forest.
Appearance[]
Mangey is a doppelgänger of his mainstream counterpart, albeit with some notable differences. As such, he is a young, anthropomorphic fox with a unique genetic mutation giving him two tails instead of one. He possesses mostly amber-orange fur with white fur around his muzzle, front torso, and the tips of his tails which are both messy, with fluffy fur at the tips of his chest and cheeks. He also has large triangular ears with white canals and vermilion tips on top of his head, sky blue eyes, a small black nose, small fangs, and a fauxhawk with vermilion tips running from his forehead down to the back of his neck.
For attire, Mangey wears white gloves wrapped with leaves, a green belt with brown pockets on the side, a bandage on his right upper arm, and shoes made of leafage held by ropes. He also has brown tiger-like markings across his limbs, the sides of his torso, the back of his head, and similar markings resembling whiskers on his cheeks. He also has a marking around his eyes and face resembling a mask.
History[]
TV series[]
Past[]
Some time prior to Sonic's arrival in the Boscage Maze, Mangey and the other Scavengers had been in conflict with Thorn Rose over dominion over the jungle floor and access to its resources.
Season one[]
Mangey was first seen being flung skyward, only to be saved by Sonic, though Mangey then attempted to eat Sonic's hand off before being calmed down by Prim. Mangey then followed the others around as Prim explains their situation to Sonic. Soon, Mangey got in a fight with Gnarly and Hangry over the only berry they have to eat, with Sonic breaking up their fight and promising them he can get them more berries.
Mangey and the other scavengers, alongside Sonic, soon descended down to the jungle floor in order to scavenge for supplies and while Sonic dealt with the monster. Eventually, the monster attacked, taking out Mangey and the others one by one, causing Mangey and his friends to retreat back to the treetops.
After they reunited and became friends again with Thorn, the latter's pet: Birdie, flew free for a bit, which gave Sonic the chance to encourage the little fox to spin his tails and join the flight and did just that, discovering his ability to fly.
Season two[]
Mangey is seen spending time with the Scavengers. When the Council attacks, Thorn suggests they have to fight. Mangey is scared and tries to protect himself behind Hangry. Later on, Mangey and his friends decide to head down to the forest to help Sonic and Thorn in fight.
Some days later, when the Chaos Council brings their buildings to Boscage Maze, Mangey is scared. Sonic comes back to the Boscage a while later, along with Nine. Mangey is shocked to see his New Yoke lookalike.
Season three[]
Once the Shatterverse start collapsing, Mangey went to New Yoke City at some point. Sonic runs into him while Nine messes with the city and its inhabitants. While New Yoke is being destroyed Mangey stays at the main base of the Council. While everyone else argues, Mangey sneaks into a room and goes to the energy extractor. He presses some buttons, which make its efficiency go up by 38%.
Later on, while Sonic is talking to Nine, Mangey and all the others arrive to the Grim to assist Sonic in battle. Mangey is seen trying to fight some robots, but he is easily beaten. Later, Mangey and Sails fight together and take down a Grim robot. They use its parts to create a bomb. Sails threw it to attack some nearby robots. A big explosion happens and Sonic and the other think they sacrificed themselves.
Some time later, Mangey and Sails are revealed to have survived thanks to their flying. They get inside the Grim Big robot and are able to defeat Alpha Grim Birdie. Once the fight is over, Mangey is sad at the thought of the multiverse collapsing.
Personality[]
Without Tails' vast intelligence, Mangey is all feral animal instincts, scratching and sniffing and when he tries to talk, he either barks, chitters, whimpers or snarls. Just the same, unlike the paranoid Gnarly or the sly Prim, he is innocent and simple-minded, and once he gets to know Sonic a little, is very trusting of him, looking to him for protection or defending him from danger rather than the other Scavengers whom he has known far longer. Although not as smart as Tails, he's still clever enough to tell what is right or wrong and has been shown to know some words and talk, albeit in a broken structure. Mangey is much smarter than he lets on, despite his feral nature as he was smart enough to figure out how a computer works and pilot Grim Big (albeit with Sails' help) and turn the tides of the battle.
Powers and abilities[]
As stated by Prim, Mangey couldn't fly, but thanks to Sonic, he learned how to fly by spinning his two tails around like a helicopter.
Relationships[]
Sonic the Hedgehog[]
At first, they weren’t on the best of terms when after Sonic saved Mangey, he bit Sonic's hand trying to eat him. But after reconciling with Thorn Rose, they were on good terms with each other and Sonic taught Mangey how to fly using his tails.
Sails Tails[]
While fighting Nine’s robots, Mangey and Sails worked well together when they created a explosive and took control of Grim Big.
