"Magic Hand" redirects here. Not to be confused with the Hand Launcher, also known as the "Magic Hand".

Magic Hands (マジックハンド Majikku Hando?) is a technique used by Sonic the Hedgehog in Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. It allows Sonic to trap a lesser enemy within a small sphere and then throw it at obstacles.

Description[]

When performing Magic Hands, Sonic targets an enemy that is in close proximity. Sonic then, in small explosion which consumes the targets, shrinks the enemy down to roughly the size of a basketball and traps them in a transparent sphere he holds. Sonic can then walk around with and throw these spheres as grenades at either walls or other enemies to destroy them. He can only carry one sphere at a time, however. This attack has no effect on Bosses.

To use Magic Hands in gameplay, the player must have obtained the Magic Gloves. The player must select the Magic Hands with Y Button Dreamcast/Gamecube Y Button in the Switch Action Window and then press Gamecube X Button/SNNBGAMECUBEDISCO near an enemy. To throw the captured enemy, the player must press Gamecube X Button/SNNBGAMECUBEDISCO again.

Trivia[]

  • The term "Magic Hand(s)" is commonly used in Japanese media to refer to mechanical glove/hand devices.
  • This ability may be connected to an early draft concept for the gameplay of Sonic the Hedgehog where defeating enemies was accomplished by capturing them rather than jumping on them.
