MAIA, Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric

MAIA is a protagonist who appears in Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric. She is a robot designed by Lyric. She was one of the many MAIA units operating Lyric's Weapon Facility, but rebelled against Lyric and helped ensure Lyric's downfall about 1,000 years ago with the aid of Sonic and Tails

Appearance

Maia1

MAIA 1,000 years ago.

MAIA is a spherical dark grey robot with a rounded, yet long and thin white plating which covers the middle of her front body and stretches far behind it, akin to a fin. This plate has Ancient runes on it and one large, completely blue eye in the middle, along with a smaller lamp above and below it. She also has an oblong white and dark grey handle hovering on each side of her body, along with two round-shaped black and blue lamps on the bottom of her body and a ball on her rear. She also has a retractable antenna on one side.

After 1,000 years, MAIA has only slightly changed in appearance. In addition to her eye being dirty and seemingly fractured, her body is covered in rust and green moss.

History

Games

Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric

MAIA encounters Knuckles and Amy while searching for Sonic at the Abandoned Research Facility. After Knuckles tells it where Sonic is, it finds Sonic and Tails while they were looking for one of the Chaos Crystals. MAIA then opens a portal for Sonic to enter the past. As Sonic and Tails are about to enter, they are distracted by Shadow who challenges them to a fight to prove he is stronger. Following a battle that took them through different time periods through MAIA's portals, Sonic kicked Shadow into a portal, which MAIA replied was leading to the near future separate than theirs. The two enter the portal once MAIA stabilizes it.

Personality

MAIA is an artificial intelligence, making her capable making her own decision. While she maintains a very robotic and computer-based speech pattern and follows protocols accordingly, she is remarkably life-like. Not only is she is capable of expressing both gratitude and closeness, but she can also give into peer pressure and even say rather strong emotional quotes. Though she sometimes require times to process input, she has show noteworthy understanding of rather complex explanations.

MAIA appears to have a defined sense of justice for a Lyric robot, given how she went rogue on her own and openly rebelled against her creator in order to protect organic life forms.
