— Lupe the Wolf, Sonic the Hedgehog #277

Lupe the Wolf[1] is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. She is a mobian wolf and ally to the Freedom Fighters, as well as the leader of the Wolf Pack. After being caught up in Dr. Eggman's attack on her village when she was younger, she was inspired by the heroism of Sally Acorn to fight back against the diabolical doctor.

Appearance

Lupe is a tall, gray mobian wolf with dark gray fur, except for her tail which is black with a white tip, blue eyes, and a single scar under her left eye. She has small cheek tuffs and her hair is somewhat spiky and mohawk-like, featuring a white streak, and is always bound in a braid. History

Early life

NewLupeFlashback

A young Lupe during an Eggman attack, from Sonic the Hedgehog #277.

At some point in the past, Lupe was caught in the invasion of her village by Dr. Eggman and his forces. Thankfully, Sonic the Hedgehog, Sally Acorn and Antoine D'Coolette of the Freedom Fighters came to her aid, and their heroism, along with the pain of losing her father during the invasion, gave her the drive to fight back.[2][3]

Shattered World Crisis

Act Two

Note: From the readers point of view, this picks up from where Lupe's original history ended.

Later, during the Shattered World Crisis, the Freedom Fighters were surprised to discover that Lupe was one of the many Gaia Key Guardians.[4] In their quest to find the keys, they found Lupe in the Thunder Plains Zone along with the Wolf Pack, who were under attack from E-118 Tau. It was not until the attack was over that the heroes learned the badniks had been going after a decoy Gaia Temple that the Wolf Pack had been guarding.[3]

Later, Lupe watched Sonic and Sally's broadcast, and decided to aid them in keeping the Egg Army at bay while the Freedom Fighters restored the planet.[5] However, nothing went according to plan as Eggman had seen the broadcast and had the Battle Bird Armada attack the Freedom Fighters early.[6] After a long battle, the Freedom Fighters were able to defeat both Eggman and Dark Gaia, and Lupe watched as the world was restored.[7]

Personality

Lupe is a kind and sage-minded individual, but her peaceful exterior hides a real warrior. She is very intelligent, cooperative, and knows how to strategize. Her loyalty and trustworthiness makes her an excellent role model and an invaluable ally thanks to the Freedom Fighters and the impact they had on her life. Likewise, she is protective of her homeland and her people, and will fearlessly defend them if they come under attack.
