Lord Eggman rules with an iron-fist covered in a glove of steel. Rumor has it that he even owns a pair of lead mittens.

Dave the Intern, "Where Have All The Sonics Gone?"

Lord Eggman the First[1] is a character that appears in the Sonic Boom series. He is Dr. Eggman's counterpart from an alternate dimension. While a supervillain like his counterpart, he has successfully taken over his Seaside Island due to having no Sonic the Hedgehog in his reality. He is opposed by the Rebellion, who have recently begun to topple his rule.

Appearance[]

Lord Eggman is nearly a doppelganger of his Sonic Boom World counterpart, albeit with some notable differences. As such, Eggman is depicted as being a rotund human in appearance, whose torso is shaped like an egg (like his name implies), albeit an upside-down egg. He possesses very pale peach skin (even more so than his counterpart) and is overweight. He also possesses a dome-shaped head and no visible neck, a bald head, a bright red and big nose, small round ears, a scar on the left side of his face, and a very smooth, yet wide, brown moustache. He also has smooth, yet still broad shoulder, and thick arms. He also has slightly short legs by comparison to the rest of his body and relatively small feet. His attire consists of militaristic garments. He wears a black jacket with brown cuffs, bronze lining, a front flap attached to one of the red buttons and two flap hanging from the back, blue pince-nez glasses, white gloves, a set of grey goggles with flappable green lenses, black pants and a pair of black boots with high rims. On his right wrist he has his wrist controller.

History[]

TV series[]

Past[]

An undefeated overlord, Eggman conquered Seaside Island at some point in the past. Establishing himself as the "lord of everything you see", his only opposition came from a small resistance group known as the Rebellion, led by Sticks the Badger. He also acquired the bright-eyed Tails as his lab assistant.[1]

One time, Dave forgot to give Eggman extra pickles at Gourmet Burger. As punishment, Eggman had him thrown in jail.[1]

Season two[]

WHATSG Promo 4

Lord Eggman arresting Sonic, from "Where Have All The Sonics Gone?".

During a trip through Hedgehog Village, Eggman met Sonic the Hedgehog and demanded he kneeled before him. When Sonic refused, he had him arrested. Eggman later met Sonic again, who had brought Team Sonic with him, at his lair when Tails brought this intrusion to his attention. During the ensuing battle between Team Sonic and Eggman's robots, Eggman left Tails to get hit by his missile when he attempted to attack Team Sonic. However, his missile missed and Sonic ended up saving Tails. Tails subsequently defected to Team Sonic, who defeated Lord Eggman for the first time in his life.[1]

Following his defeat, Lord Eggman sought to get revenge on Sonic. While scheming however, he was visited by his Sonic Boom World counterpart, who provided him with a portal to Sonic's location in the Sonic Boom World. Accepting the offer, Lord Eggman confronted Sonic, only to get attacked by Shadow the Hedgehog, who sought Dr. Eggman's demise. Lord Eggman promptly cleared up the misunderstanding and provided Shadow with a portal that led to the dimension Dr. Eggman was in. He was subsequently put into Team Sonic's custody when Sonic decided to follow Shadow. When Sonic and Shadow returned with Dr. Eggman and Metal Sonic in tow, Lord Eggman and his counterpart ended up getting kidnapped by Shadow in the confusion. What Shadow planned was to keep the Eggmen together so their shared presence could create an abnormality that would destroy the universe. Fortunately, Sonic would save the universe when he found the Eggmen and got Lord Eggman back home.[2]

Personality[]

Much like his Sonic Boom World counterpart, Lord Eggman is a callous, short-tempered, egomaniacal, and loud-mouthed megalomaniac who hungers for power, domination, and subjugation. Lord Eggman however, is even more callous than the likes of his counterpart in terms of personality; during his fight with Team Sonic, Eggman was perfectly content about letting his faithful lab assistant get destroyed along with his enemies when trying to attack the latter.[1]

Akin to his counterpart, Lord Eggman's malevolence is hampered somewhat by a quirky and comical personality, though he is much more competent and intimidating than the original Eggman.[2] Like his counterpart, Lord Eggman also gets excessively upset over the most mundane or insignificant things, like when he put Dave in jail for forgetting his pickles at Gourmet Burger.[1] Eggman also does not care for garnish colors, which is why he wears dark clothes.[2]

During his reign, Eggman has grown very complacent with his absolute rule. As such, he exhibits a far more dominant attitude than his counterpart, having been described as ruling with "an iron-fist covered in a glove of steel." He is quite satisfied with everyone fearing him and demands that any newcomers immediately subjugate themselves to him. Conversely, he is quick to respond with anger when someone talks back at him. His long history of success has likewise left him with an overconfident and steadfast belief in his own success rate, so much that he could not comprehend his first loss when Team Sonic defeated him.[1] Lord Eggman is also very opprobrious and vengeful, which is exemplified in his efforts to exact revenge on Sonic for ruining his plans.[2]

Powers and abilities[]

Lord Eggman is a brilliant scientist, mechanic and inventor whose mastery of technology is on par with his Sonic Boom World counterpart's, having produced the same robot legions and weapons as he has.[1] It is unclear whether Lord Eggman is indeed more intelligent than his counterpart, or if he was merely successful by-proxy, due to Sonic's absence, or a combination of both those factors. At the very least, they seem to be equals in terms of intellect.[2]

Lord Eggman is much more combat-capable than his counterpart. He possesses a degree of skill in swordsmanship, and Sonic himself has noted that Lord Eggman has some "sweet moves". In battle, he can keep up with a battle-worn Sonic using swift slashes and guards. Lord Eggman has also demonstrated surprising durability, enough to get right back up after getting knocked through a wooden wall by a spin attack.[2]

Equipment and weapons[]

LordLaserSword

Like his Sonic Boom World counterpart, Lord Eggman wears a wrist controller, although its functionalities are unknown. In combat, he also makes use of a black sword hilt with a knuckle bow, a curved cross, and a red button. This hilt can generate a red laser blade hot enough to cut through wood with ease and durable enough to deflect a spin attack.[2]

Relationships[]

Miles "Tails" Prower[]

The bright-eyed Miles "Tails" Prower was Lord Eggman's obscure lab assistant, although Tails saw himself more as Eggman's trusty sidekick. While Eggman appreciated Tails' loyalty, he treated him just as poorly as any other of his servants and had no qualms about sacrificing him for his own benefits. This act ultimately led to Tails defecting to the Rebellion and helping defeat Eggman for the first time.[1]

Sonic the Hedgehog[]

Sonic the Hedgehog is the enemy of one of Lord Eggman's counterparts. When they first met each other, Eggman quickly took a dislike to Sonic's cheeky attitude and had him thrown in jail. Regardless, Sonic proved to be Eggman's downfall, as Sonic would mobilize a team that not only defeated him for the first time, but would also surely overthrow his rule one day.[1]

After Sonic ruined his plans, Lord Eggman has made it his goal to exact revenge on the blue hedgehog.[2]

Trivia[]

  • Lord Eggman's concept, being an even more evil Eggman from an alternate dimension, is similar to the backstory of another Dr. Eggman doppelganger, Eggman Nega, from the mainline Sonic games.
