The Limiter Rings are objects that appear in the Sonic the Hedgehog film series produced by Paramount Pictures and its spin-offs. They are rings worn by Shadow the Hedgehog on each of his wrists and ankles. They are meant to limit Shadow's chaos energy. Their origins are unknown, although Shadow has worn them since his awakening following the Master Emerald incident.

Description[]

Appearance[]

The Limiter Rings look similar to Sonic's rings, being golden in color. However, the Limiter Rings have sharper edges, along with a cut going along the outside, which would glow from time to time.

History[]

Sonic the Hedgehog 3[]

When the Eclipse Cannon's core began to meltdown and threaten the lives on Earth, Shadow removed his Limiter Rings while in his super form in order to push the cannon away from the Earth before it exploded. The rings fell to Earth and Shadow later retrieved them after surviving the blast.

Trivia[]

  • The Limiter Rings are based on the objects of the same name in the Sonic the Hedgehog series.
    • Unlike their game counterpart, which appears as a large, bangle-sized ring, the movie Limiter Rings appear as two rings stacked together.
    • Additionally, when Shadow removes them in the games, he simply twists them, and they slide off as if intangible, but in the movie, they actually have hinges that allow them to open.
