The Lightning Storm is an Item Box power-up that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series
Description [ ] The Lightning Storm's icon takes the form of red thunderbolt strikes the land, leaving the red aura in its wake.
Overview [ ] In gameplay, the Lightning Storm can only be obtained at random from Item Boxes by Oni Mephiles . As with most other Items, Metal Sonic and Metal Sonic Mach 3.0 can also use the Lightning Storm if they use the Steal Item, or Fortune Teller Amy if she uses Lucky Draw or Wall of Cards to steal it from the aforementioned user.
Once obtained, the player can utilize the Lightning Storm by pressing its icon on the bottom of the HUD. When used, the red light aura will appear over every rival before the red lightning bolt appear and strikes them about a second. If these lightning bolts manage to hit the rival character(s), they will take damage, and got electrocuted (lose their Rings , stop for a moment and lose randomly one of power-ups they currently have). To avoid the Lightning Storm, the character must step out its lane.
The Lightning Storm can also be upgraded by leveling the user up to level 4, 10 and 16 respectively. For each upgrade, the Lightning Storm will be increased damage.
