The Liftor[1] is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced platform-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman.
Appearance[]
The Liftors are gray platform-like Badniks, with flat yellow tops connected to their bodies by tubes, two gray jets, and black eyes.
Overview[]
In Knuckles' Chaotix, Liftors only appear in Tutorial levels 3 and 4 of Isolated Island, as well as being the only Badnik who appears in the level. In gameplay, they hover in place over gaps and track the player's horizontal position should they lie over one of said gaps. Liftors act as a platform from above and can be destroyed from below. Notably, Liftors respawn once the player moves off-screen from their position of defeat. Although they cannot damage the player in any way, they function as obstacles in certain sections of Tutorial level 4, as the player normally has to destroy them with their partner in order to progress.
Unlike many other Badniks in Knuckles' Chaotix, Liftors do not drop Dark Rings upon being destroyed.
Powers and abilities[]
Using their jets, Liftors are capable of hovering in place and moving horizontally. Also, unlike many other Badniks, the Liftors are relatively harmless and do not attempt to attack anyone.
