Labib's younger brother, a klutz with his fingers who wasted out before he could ever become a carpet-maker. He's spacey, he's unreliable... And yet oddly enough, he handles the carpet workshop's accounts.
Latif (ラティーフ,Ratīfu?) is a character that appears in Sonic Unleashed. He is a human resident of Shamar and the younger brother of Labib. Latif takes care of the accounts of Labib's carpet workshop, as he is not suited to be a carpet-maker.
Earlier in his life, Latif was supposed to become a carpet-maker, like his older brother Labib. However, because he proved to be an absolute klutz, Latif was left out of the carpet-maker business. However, Latif still remained in his family's carpet-maker business, where he would handle the carpet workshop's accounts.
At the time Hallowmoon had arrived in Sonic Unleashed, Latif participated in the local custom of switching his daytime and nighttime routines and began praying to the moon, thanking it for bringing the morning each day. Latif, however, never liked this custom, because he was left so sleepy during both daytime and nighttime when doing his job and he often dozed off during his prayers.
While walking around half-asleep and praying to the moon, Latif ran into Sonic the Hedgehog and Chip, where he awoke and explained to them that it seemed like he fell asleep during his prayer. During the following period, whenever Latif came across Sonic and Chip during daytime, he would tell them about why he hated Hallowmoon, before remarking that he would just take a cup of tea instead. When meeting Sonic and Chip during nighttime, Latif could complain to Sonic and Chip about how tired he was, but that he was not allowed to sleep.
Latif later watched on in horror with the rest of his town as Dark Gaia began to cast the world into darkness while maturing into Perfect Dark Gaia, but later rejoiced when the world returned to normal following Perfect Dark Gaia's defeat at the hands of Super Sonic and the Gaia Colossus.
Latif never made an in-game appearance during the Wii/PlayStation 2 version of Sonic Unleashed and only appeared during the pre-rendered cutscenes. As Dark Gaia began to cast the world into darkness while maturing into Perfect Dark Gaia, Latif later watched on in horror with the rest of his town, but later rejoiced when the world returned to normal following Perfect Dark Gaia's defeat at the hands of Super Sonic and the Gaia Colossus.
Latif is described as spacey, unreliable and a klutz. He also have a great dislike for Shamar's annual Hallowmoon tradition since it tells him to stay awake all night.
