The Laser Hunter (レーザーハンター, Rēzā Hantā^?) is a robot deployed by the military organization Guardian Units of Nations and is a part of the Hunter series. They appear in Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. Instead of bullets, they fire lasers, hence the name.

Appearance

The Laser Hunters are nearly identical to the Gun Hunters. They are blue, white, yellow and black humanoid robots with a top-heavy upper torso, and have a flat head with no neck, a single completely red eye, and a drop-shaped blue cap covering it. They also have thin legs with large kneecaps, thick forearms, a hand on the left arm, and a rifle on the right arm. Unlike the Gun Hunters though, the Laser Hunters' rifle is shorter and thicker with a sharp point for a rifle barrel.

Overview

Although based on the Gun Hunter, the Laser Hunters appear less frequent in gameplay than the Gun Hunters, although pose somewhat of a greater danger. They can be found in the following Stages:

In the Stages, Laser Hunters either drop down from above or stay in a hunched position for then to get into attack position when the player is in range (the most common is the latter case). They mostly remain in a stationary position from where they take aim at the player. When the player leaves the area, the Laser Hunters return to their hunched position. When destroyed, the Laser Hunter award the player with 100 points.

In gameplay, Laser Hunters attack the player with laser shots. When attacking, they lock onto their target when within range and charge their laser briefly before firing. Unlike the Gun Hunter, their shots cannot be destroyed by the Lock-On Missile, but they can pass through any type of Container. The lasers are also quite harmful as one shot can reduce the Health Gauge by 20%. Once they start charging though, the Laser Hunters cannot change their shots' trajectory, giving the player the opportunity to escape them.

Powers and abilities

The Laser Hunters, as their name implies, are armed with right-hand laser rifles, allowing them to shoot rapid-fire yellow laser beams.
