The Land Breaker[2] is a vehicle that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is Knuckles the Echidna's personal vehicle for racing competitions.

Description

In Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, the Land Breaker is an average quad bike that bears similarities with Knuckles himself. The main part of its body looks like Knuckles, with the headlights looking slightly angry, and has handlebars behind its "'head". The front looks like a general ATV but has a part of its back yellow. It also has a seat. Since the bike is themed after himself, the wheels are themed after his gloves, while the inside part is yellow while its front is attached to green shocks. The front wheels look like his gloves, as they have two spikes. The back wheels only have a single spike covered by a few plates of metal which resemble the buckles on his shoes. The back of the bike has two protrusions that resemble his dreadlocks with yellow on the bottoms that work as headlights.

In Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, the Land Breaker has three distinct appearances that depend on its mode:

  • Car mode: In comparison to its original appearance, the Land Breaker's land form has been drastically redesigned to be a three-wheeler vehicle. Its front two wheels are covered in guards, topped with spiked white segments resembling Knuckles' own fists. The back wheel is flanked by a long exhaust pipe on each side. Its new overall shape resembles Knuckles himself, especially while gliding.
  • Plane mode: In its plane form, the Land Breaker's wheels turn horizontal, and the back wheel splits into two likewise horizontal rings, which keep the vehicle afloat and swivel to allow the vehicle to turn.
  • Boat mode: In its boat form, the Land Breaker becomes a hovercraft, its two front wheels replaced with hydrofoils, each with white spikes resembling Knuckles' gloves, and with two large fan propellers attached to the back.

In Team Sonic Racing the Land Breaker's default form was drastically redesigned again, returning to the original four-wheeled layout but with similar spiked guards to its Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed design. Most notably, the vehicle has been scaled up to resemble a full-sized automobile rather than a quad bike.
