The Ladybuggy[1] is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, ladybug-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman, and a variant of the Moto Bug.
Appearance[]
Ladybuggies are an amalgamation of the Boing-o-Bot from Sonic Chaos and the Moto Bug. While they lack springs, their heads are black, their plating is red, they have two yellow claws, and two antennae on their foreheads, but have no visible mandibles. They also ride the Spin Coaster, a minecart that can only move when the player Spin Dashes.
Overview[]
In Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble, Ladybuggies only appear in Sunset Park Zone. In gameplay, they are seen riding on Spin Coasters, which trundle back and forth on the Zone's rails within a certain area. Ladybuggies are relatively harmless and the player can only get hurt by them if they run directly into them. As such, they are easily dispatched with a Spin Attack. Upon destroying the Badnik, the Ladybuggy's Spin Coaster will be left empty, making it possible for the player to board these vehicles and ride around in them at high speed with a Spin Dash.
Like other Badniks in the game, Ladybuggies do not have Animals as an energy source that are released upon their destruction.
Powers and abilities[]
Ladybuggies are the only ones who can use Spin Coasters without relying on a Spin Dash to move them, implying that they are experts at using them.

Archie Comics[]
In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics, the Ladybuggies were among the many Badniks produced by Dr. Robotnik, appearing natively in Sunset Park Zone.
Trivia[]
- The Ladybuggy's name is a portmanteau of "ladybug" and "buggy," a term to describe an lightweight automobile with off-road capabilities.
