Labrys (ラブリュス, Raburyusu^?) is an item that appears in Sonic and the Black Knight. It is an unlockable weapon that can be equipped to and wielded by Sir Gawain.

Description

Labrys is a pair of identical swords that resemble double bit axes. Each sword has a straight light brown handle, with a golden capped block on the knob and a wide flat rim on the top section of the handle. The beard section below each axe head is a highly detailed golden rim, and the top of each axe head is composed of a brown metal rim with a red diamond cut jewel on top. The cheek of each axe head is golden with red markings, while the toe and heel of each axe head extend far to each side, with the heel reaching slightly beyond the beard and the toe rising far above the top on Labrys's axe heads.

Aerial Attack	Move back and flick the Wii Remote to Aerial Attack.
Aerial Spread	Increases the attack area of an Aerial Attack.
Attack Spread	Increases the attack area of ground attacks.
Perfect Guard	Guard with just the right timing.
Attack Step	Attack becomes possible when using a short jump.
Shield Break	Shields become easier to break.
Soul Surge	Press the B button when there is energy in the Soul Gauge.

Etymology

Labrys is a term that refers to a symmetrical doubleheaded axe. The term originates from Crete in Greece, and is considered one of the oldest symbols of Greek civilization.

Trivia

• In Phantasy Star Online 2, another series by SEGA, Maria's weapon is a Cosmogenic Arms named "Labrys the Umbral", a battleaxe styled Partisan slightly similar in design.
