The Kuraa[1] (クラー[2] Kurā?) is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, jellyfish-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman.
Appearance[]
The Kuraas resemble jellyfish. They possess transparent cyan caps with a pair of mechanical-looking, cylinder-shaped yellow eyes inside them, white bodies below them with a white prong on their bottom, and gray cable-like arms with three cyan spheres stacked along them.
Overview[]
In Sonic Advance, the Kuraas appear as enemies. They are encountered in the underwater sections of Ice Mountain Zone.
In gameplay, Kuraas float around left and right, sometimes bursting with electricity as their defense, making them temporarily immune to basic attacks until their electrical field fades away. To defeat a Kuraa, the player must attack it while its electric field is down. Upon their destruction, they will release an Animal.
Powers and abilities[]
Thanks to their design, the Kuraas are excellent swimmers. They are also able to temporarily generate an electrical field around themselves as a defensive measure.

IDW Publishing[]
In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by IDW Publishing, two Kuraas were amongst the Badniks attacking Sonic while he was alone in Eggperial City. Sonic would destroy them all and escape from them.[3]
Trivia[]
- This Badnik's name is derived from "Kurage", which means "jellyfish" in Japanese.
