Kubinagas are segmented serpentine Badniks. They come out of holes with a light green and yellow coloring, a palette that the Kubinagas themselves share. The middle of the segments has an orange coloring, and in place of a mouth, they have a snout from which they spit fireballs.
Overview[]
The Kubinagas make their only appearance in Sonic Advance 2, where they appear exclusively in Hot Crater, both Act 1 and Act 2.
In gameplay, the Kubinagas hide in holes from either the ground, or the walls. When the player approaches, they will reveal themselves and take aim at the player. Kubinagas stationed on the walls will charge towards the player's last position. After a while, the Kubinagas will shoot a fireball. Kubinagas are otherwise easily destroyed with a Spin Jump and other related attacks. Upon destruction, they will also release an Animal.
The Kubinaga's name is derived from kubi, meaning "neck" in Japanese, and naga, a half-human, half-serpentine being in Asian folklore. Despite this, they do not resemble nagas at all.
