Koco Roundup[1] is a Story Quest in Sonic Frontiers. It is the second Quest on Ares Island, as well the fourth Quest overall. The Quest is hosted Knuckles. Its goal is to guide the Kocos back to the Echidna without getting hit, within the time limit.
Koco Roundup takes place in the north regions of Ares Island. As such, the Quest is surrounded by a rocky enviorement. The soil is made of sand, with dead vegetation covering the ground. In the background of the Quest, one of the Ancients' structures can be also seen.
Since Sonic Frontiers features a day-night cycle, some elements might be influenced by the time of the day the Quest is started.
Story[]
At some point during his adventure on Ares Island, Sonic would encounter Knuckles, who tells him that the Koco Soldiers are supposed to fall back to a bunker, as the defenses were down. Sonic proposes that he will gather the stragglers while Knuckles will supervise, as the Echidna agreed.
Gameplay[]
The gameplay of Koco Roundup is similar to that of Family Gathering, since in both Story Quests Sonic has to guide the Kocos to one of his friends, while avoiding the Bombs, which will consume one Life.
Unlike Family Gathering though, in this Quest, the Bombs will also block the player's vision for a short period of time. Boosting and Dodging are also disabled while playing this Quest.[1]
In Koco Roundup, Sonic has three Lifes, which can be drained once they are damaged by the Bombs. Losing all three Lifes will restart the Quest.
Overview[]
Koco Roundup happens in a small region of Ares Island. Its goal is to guide the 15 Koco to Knuckles without getting hit by the Bombs, before the timer runs out, which is 75 second, or 1 minute and 15 seconds. In this Quest, the Kocos can be found in pairs of 3.
In order to complete the Quest, the player has to send all 15 Kocos to Knuckles, by pushing them to the Echidna's location. Once all Kocos have been recovered, the Quest will end, thus directly sending the player to The Best Defense.
Koco Roundup is the only Quest where the player isn't rewarded to anything, as the two Chaos Emeralds are given after completing the other 2 Quests on Ares Island, SOS Backup and The Best Defense.
