Knuckles the Echidna is a character that appears in the Sonic Underground television series. He is the guardian of the Floating Island, and protector of the Chaos Emerald that keeps it afloat.
Appearance[]
Knuckles is an anthropomorphic echidna with red fur that covers most of his body, peach skin on his muzzle, a white crescent-shaped patch of fur on his chest, and black eyes. He also has seven dreadlock-like spines on his head and a medium-sized tail.
For attire, Knuckles wears red and yellow shoes, each with green cuffs, gray soles, and a gray, sextuple-bolted plate on top. He also wears white, mitten-like gloves with sock-like cuffs and two spiked knuckles on each hand.
History[]
TV series[]
Season one[]
Knuckles was heavily dedicated to keeping the Emerald safe and would defend it with his life against all who trespass on it. He first appeared on the show when he captured Sleet and Dingo, intending to feed them to Chomps, his pet. However, he was tricked into believing that Sonic, Manic and Sonia were going to steal the Chaos Emerald. Initially, this was their intention, but Sonic changed his mind, and brought terms of peace with Knuckles. Knuckles soon developed a crush on Sonia.
As the series was cancelled with no real ending, it is not clear what became of Knuckles following his appearances.
Personality[]
Knuckles has a tough personality, dedicated to keeping his island afloat. However, he tends to be gullible and easily misled, thus leading to his attacks on the Sonic Underground.
He doesn't seem to be a fan of the Sonic Underground's singing, at one point covering his ears and screaming 'Enough!' when one song was played by the group.
Powers and abilities[]
Knuckles possesses super strength and can spin his arms very quickly to perform buzz saw maneuvers. Also, combined with his strength, he can also burrow through walls of solid metal. He is also very skilled at setting traps.

Trivia[]
- His artwork for the show is reused from one of his iconic American Sonic & Knuckles illustrations by Greg Martin, albeit traced into the style of Sonic Underground instead of keeping Martin's original glossy airbrush style, and an addition with the eyes looking away from the viewer to the left instead of looking at the the viewer.
- His voice, as provided by Brian Drummond, is higher than his other known portrayals.
