Knuckles the Echidna is a character in the Sonic Boom series. He is the wiser Mirror Dimension counterpart to Knuckles the Echidna and the leader of his version of Team Sonic.[1]
Appearance

Knuckles looks exactly like his counterpart to the degree that Sonic and his friends could not differate them other than in their mannerisms and speech. During his stay in the Sonic Boom World, he wore a blue party hat with spikes.
History
TV series
For a long time, Knuckles lead his team into several victories against Dr. Eggman. During an assault from Eggman's Octopus Bot where Knuckles turned the battle in his team's favor, the robot shot a laser that sent Knuckles to a place with another version of his team, including a dimwitted version of himself. Accepting a hat to distinguish himself, Knuckles sought Dave the Intern's help, believing him to be a genius, though it was Tails who figured out Knuckles had been sent to another dimension. Realizing he needed Dr. Eggman's technology to get home, Knuckles recklessly charged Dr. Eggman's lair against his allies' wishes, only to get captured when he started flickering due to the paradox of having two Knuckles in one dimension. He was later rescued by Team Sonic who got him back home with Eggman's aid in time to help his Sonic and keep their dimensions from imploding.[1]
Personality
Being the polar opposite of his counterpart, Knuckles is described by Tails as smart, sophisticated, charming, likable and a born leader. Much more grammatically gifted than his counterpart, Knuckles speaks using a wide vocabulary and proverbs, the latter which several have noted makes him sound like a fortune cookie. However, he comes off as a know-it-all, like when he formally noted Sonic's aggressiveness after he schooled him in pacifism (even though he forced Sonic to act as such).[1]
Knuckles is shown to be very modest, gladly wearing a silly hat to distinguish himself. He is impatient though, unlike his counterpart who likes to take his time, as he prefers to take action rather than wait. He does also share his counterpart's brash attitude, invading Eggman's lair and smashing his badnik to get what he wants, an attitude that Sonic finds aggressive.[1]
Powers and abilities
Knuckles possesses the same physical strength as his counterpart, being capable of creating shockwaves by just punching the ground. However, Knuckles appears much more powerful and disciplined as he is not only able to direct his shockwaves, but also make them powerful enough to knock back both hordes of Badniks and Octopus Bot at the same time.[1]
As well as his intelligence and charisma for leadership, Knuckles is a profound hand-to-hand combatant and has a flair for battle ingenuity, using hoverboards as projectiles with great accuracy.[1]

Sonic the Hedgehog
When meeting with the Sonic Boom World's Sonic, Knuckles did not agree agree with Sonic's passive leadership and would point out when he contradicted himself. By the end though, Knuckles had come to respect Sonic and praised him for his capabilities.[1]
Mirror Dimension

Knuckles has great patience for his Sonic's clumsiness and treats him with kindness and support akin to what a parent or older brother would show to a child. He even referred to himself as a "grown-up" when taking to Sonic.[1]
Amy Rose
Knuckles acts very chivalrous towards his Amy, taking to her with respect and being there to save her when in need, while kindly teasing her romantic feelings for him. Whether he feels the same way for her is unknown.[1]
Dave the Intern
Knuckles has great respect his world's Dave the Intern's intellect, believing he alone could explain how he ended up in the Sonic Boom World, and refers to him as his friend.[1]
Trivia
- Ironically, this version of Knuckles is the exact vision Knuckles has of himself, where he is the smartest and the leader of his team.
- In the French dub his dialect was compared to that of a "fancy cake" while in the English dub his dialect was compared to that of fortune cookies.
