Knuckles the Echidna is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. He is the alternate version of Knuckles the Echidna from the In Another Time, In Another Place Zone.
Appearance[]
Knuckles is identical in appearance and wardrobe to his Prime Zone counterpart. As such, he is a echidna with red fur that covers most of his body, a black nose on his peach-skinned muzzle, a white and crescent-shaped patch of fur on his chest, and purple eyes. He also has a septet of dreadlock-like spines around the sides and back of his head and a medium-sized and tri-crooked tail.
For attire, Knuckles wears red and yellow shoes, each with green cuffs, light gray soles and a gray and sextuple-bolted plate on top. He also wears large and white mitten-like gloves with sock-like cuffs and two spiked knuckles on each one.
History[]
Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood[]
Having learned of the disappearance of many of his world's Chaos Emeralds, Knuckles called upon Tails to help him set a trap for the thieves, using the last Emerald as bait. Disassembling the Tornado and using its pieces to create a booby trap, the pair lay in wait, and were rewarded by the arrival of the Marauders. Unfortunately, the trap failed, and Knuckles decided to take the invaders on hand-to-hand. He succeeded against most of them, but met his match in the form of Shade, who knocked him unconscious. Rather than eliminate him, Shade ordered that he be brought with them, prompting Tails to leave in search of Sonic and other allies to help rescue him.[1]
Sonic Generations[]
Some time later, Knuckles was among the friends who gathered together to throw Sonic a surprise birthday party. However, all of them were then attacked by the Time Eater, who opened several portals and hurled Knuckles and the others to various points in time.[2]
Olympic Trials[]
Knuckles later took part in the Olympic Games, and joined Silver and Big the Cat in the hammer throw event. However, the trio's hammers had been sabotaged by Eggman, and Knuckles ended up flying through the air bound to his hammer thanks to cords that emerged from it and wrapped around his hands. Captured along with the other competitors, he was held in a large Prison Egg but subsequently released by Sonic.[3]
Personality[]
Knuckles is confident to the point of cockiness, and also rather aggressive. Despite this, he is a firm friend and a determined defender of justice.[1]
Powers and abilities[]
Knuckles is a powerful fighter, possessing both great strength and fighting skill. However, he seems to rely more on brute force than actual tactics, which leaves him prone to defeat by more technique-oriented opponents.[1]
