In this Act, however, several Badniks are many times their normal size, which the player can use to their advantage; when Spin Attacking their heads, the player leaps into the air. However, when Classic Sonic impacts these Badniks, they will become temporarily immobilized, rendering the player unable to use the aforementioned advantage until the Badniks recover. Overview

The player starts the Act with Knuckles behind them. While, Knuckles burrows through the ground, the player must scale a few levels of wooden platforms filled with Moto Bugs. After escaping this section and getting though a corkscrew loop, the player must continue forward to find a large, yet harmless Moto Bug on the other side of a small gap. Hit its head to gain a small leap into the air, and the player should eventually encounter a huge Buzz Bomber. Like before, hit its head and proceed forward.

The next section, which is entered after passing through two shuttle loops, is heavily guarded by huge Badniks. At the highest point of this section is a looped bridge that leads to the final area of this Challenge Act. This section consists of wooden platforms that lead to the left and are guarded by huge Badniks. At the end of these platforms, climb to the top of the incoming upward path where the Goal Ring is located.

Trivia

  • This Challenge Act is the first Challenge Act to feature Knuckles the Echidna.
  • A remixed version of "Super Sonic Racing" is the background music for this Challenge Act.
  • This is one of the few instances in the Sonic the Hedgehog video game series where the original zone was in the daytime, but a variation of the stage takes place during the late-afternoon. Other instances of this occasion occur in Splash Hill Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I and Windy Hill Zone 2 (Wii U version) and Zone 3 (Nintendo 3DS version) of Sonic Lost World.
  • If the player talks to Knuckles after finishing this challenge act as Classic Sonic, he will respond, "Man, if it weren't for that huge enemy, I wouldn't have lost."
