Knuckles' father is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog film series produced by Paramount Pictures and its spin-offs. He was an anthropomorphic echidna and the father of Knuckles who, along with Pachacamac's tribe, tried to hunt down Longclaw for her secrets.

Appearance[]

Knuckles' father was an anthropomorphic echidna with yellow eyes and red fur looking like his son's current age. For attire, he wore a tunic and gloves made with strips. He also had a necklace made of red feathers and wore a tribal mask that appeared to be made of a bird-like skull, with cyan feathers attached to it. Knuckles' father possessed white strips around his dreadlocks.

History[]

Film series[]

Past[]

Over ten years ago, Knuckles' father prepared to join his tribe in a raid, with the intention of acquiring Longclaw's secrets about the Master Emerald. His young son, Knuckles, also wished to join the raid, but Knuckles' father stopped him, stating that his moment to honor the tribe would come sometime soon. After that, Knuckles' father left with his tribe for the raid, and was never seen by Knuckles again, leaving him to an unknown fate. However, Knuckles has been referred to as "the last of the echidnas", meaning that Knuckles' father is at least believed to be dead by the public.

Personality[]

Although little is known about Knuckles' father, he strongly wanted what was best for him and his tribe. Additionally, he greatly cared for his son, as he forbade Knuckles from joining him and the rest of their kin in going to war against Longclaw. Equally reassuring, he assured Knuckles that the time for him to honor their tribe would come eventually.

Weapons[]

Knuckles' father wielded a spear with a blue feather on it as decoration.

Trivia[]

  • In the release of the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 film, former Sonic Archie Comics writer Ken Penders expressed on his social account about launching a new lawsuit against Sega and Paramount for supposedly using his characters in the film, claiming Knuckles' unnamed father in the film is directly referencing the character Locke from the Knuckles the Echidna comic book series, however this is untrue as they only have base similarities and none of Locke's characteristics.[1][2]

  • In one scene with his son, Knuckles' father's tunic can be seen clipping through his chest. This is surprisingly the only scene in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 that did not get fixed in the final version, whereas as the other scenes with animation errors, like Knuckles' dreadlocks clipping through his arm, were fixed in the final version.
