Kingdom Valley
Next stage >>

Kingdom Valley is the third stage in Shadow Generations. It is based on the location of the same name from Sonic the Hedgehog (2006).

Description[]

Story[]

After defeating the Biolizard, Shadow encounters Black Doom, who tells him that they're both not complete, when they are, they will fight. Shadow obtains the Doom Surf power and uses it to find a version from somewhere in time of Kingdom Valley (or Sunset Heights).

After making his way through it, Shadow finds Big the Cat, who was abducted by the Time Eater when he was looking for Froggy and now is fishing.

This level has no impact for the story, but it is mandatory to unlock the fight against Metal Overlord.

Trivia[]

  • The curved bridge at the beginning of Act 1 is possibly a reference to a scrapped part of the first section of Kingdom Valley seen in the 2005 Tokyo Game Show demo. The bridge was replaced with a wind rail in the final release, and a similar section appears later in the game. However, both the version in Shadow Generations and the TGS 2005 demo end with springs, while the used version does not.
    • Additionally, the section following this bridge in Shadow Generations appears to be inspired by the first section of Kingdom Valley, where the bridge was located during the TGS 2005 demo.
    • Another possible reference to the TGS 2005 demo is in Act 2. There are two large wooden boxes with an X-pattern and trimming on them, a design that does not appear in the finished game, but does appear in the TGS 2005 demo, albeit slightly differently. The boxes in the TGS 2005 demo appear to have metal trimming, while the ones in Shadow Generations have wooden trimming.
  • This is one of two stages that Black Doom does not interfere mid-stage, the other being Chaos Island.

Music[]

The trailer version of the stage music for the first Act was officially released on various digital platforms on 25 July 2024, under the name of Richard Jacques' Audissi Studios.
