The kick boost[1] is a recurring move in the Sonic the Hedgehog series that is used by Sonic the Hedgehog. It is a highly powerful kick delivered to a Movable Crate.

Description

When using the kick boost, Sonic delivers a powerful, charged strike to a Movable Crate with both his legs, caused the crate to slide a small far distance along the ground at high speed. This is useful for moving a Movable Crate fast or take out enemies caught in the Moveable Crate's path.

Game appearances

Sonic Colors

This move first appeared in Sonic Colors. In this game, when using the kick boost, Sonic spins around in midair, similar to when he performs the Spin Dash, to build up momentum before striking the Movable Crate. To use the kick boost in gameplay, the player must press and hold down the following buttons and then release:

Wii Remote + Nunchunk Wii Remote Sideways Classic Style GameCube Controller

It should be noted that in this game, Super Sonic cannot use the move and instead, the Movable Crate will move instantly every time he touches it.

Sonic Generations

In the console/PC version Sonic Generations, when using the kick boost, Sonic Boosts into, charging his power and kicking the Movable Crate to deliver the strike rather than charge it up stationary. To use the kick boost in gameplay, the player has to press XboxX.png/PSSquareButton.png. This move is mostly only used in the 2.5D sections of the levels as the Movable Crates are only present in these areas with the only exception being in the Endless Boost Challenge Act.
