Joypolis is an amusement park and a department store chain that was first opened on July 20, 1994 in Yokohama, Japan. Joypolis centers have since opened in several cities in Japan and China with the parks featuring arcade games and amusement rides based on Sega intellectual properties, similar to Sega World.[1] Joypolis has been a recurring location for Sonic the Hedgehog series related attractions, events and merchandise since its opening.

- Sonic Ghost Shooting - An interactive shooting dark ride.
- Prizes Corner - An area full of UFO Catchers featuring exclusive Joypolis Sonic plushes.
- Sonic Carnival - A section for the younger guests featuring carnival games themed to Sonic and his friends.

Sonic themed events
Many Sonic themed events have been held at Tokyo Joypolis throughout the 2010's. The events usually consist of celebrating Sonic's birthday, updates and retrospects on the series, live tournaments where attendees and participants can win prizes, and appearances of key members involved with the series such as Takashi Iizuka, Jun Senoue, Tomoya Ohtani, and Sonic himself. The events are live-streamed and can be viewed on the Sonic Movie Channel.
- Sonic Birthday Party 2013 - Celebration of Sonic's 22nd anniversary and the introduction of Sonic Lost World. [4]
- Sonic Fan Thanksgiving 2013 - Commemorated the launch day of Sonic Lost World and with time attack tournaments for both versions of the game.[5]
- Sonic Birthday Party 2014 - Celebration of Sonic's 23rd anniversary, and the Japanese release of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.[6]
- Sonic Fan Thanksgiving 2014 - Celebration of the Japanese releases of Sonic Toon: Ancient Treasure and Sonic Toon: Island Adventure.[7]
- Sonic Birthday Party 2015 - Celebration of the 24th anniversary of the series, and held a special match using Sonic Runners.[8]
