— Jet the Hawk, Sonic the Hedgehog Annual 2019

History[]

Bonds of Friendship[]

Jet and the other Babylon Rogues eventually broke into the Mineral Museum in Spiral Hill Village in the middle of the day. Upon their arrival, Jet wasted no time and instructed Wave and Storm to grab as many of the museum's exhibitions as possible. After having grabbed a sizeable portion of the museum's treasures himself, Jet retreated back to the blimp with his team, running over Whisper the Wolf in the process. Inside their headquarters, Jet ignored Wave's enthusiasm about their haul, as he only cared about his Extreme Gear being kept in shape. When Storm then tried to show them a huge gem he had gotten, Jet and Wave discovered that what Storm had actually grabbed was the curator of the museum, Jewel the Beetle. Soon after, Tangle and Whisper arrived, demanding Jewel be handed back. Jet denied, however, and told the girls that they could only get Jewel back if they beat him in a race. This made Wave scold Jet for his behavior, as they were thieves, not kidnappers. Jet argued, however, that they could not just give up Jewel after Storm made them look incompetent. Soon though, Jet grew tired of arguing and asked for Storm to throw everyone out. When Storm complied by throwing Jewel out of the blimp however, Jet scolded Storm for making them look violent. Soon though, Tangle stopped Jet and his gang from interfering any more, as she and Whisper had it under control. After Jet and his gang then received a threat from Tangle about not coming to her village again, Tangle leapt out of the blimp with the stolen goods, angering Jet. Wave, however, told him to let them go as today was a hassle.[1]

All or Nothing[]

RoguesandSonic

The Babylon Rogues discuss Sonic's proposal, from Sonic the Hedgehog #25.

The Babylon Rogues were later contacted by Amy Rose to meet her and a group of survivors from the Metal Virus on Angel Island. There, they were told that they were needed to help steal the Chaos Emeralds from a group called the Deadly Six. Jet showed little care to help Sonic and his allies unless the reward was big enough. Even when Wave pointed out that they still needed the world's resources, Jet felt as if they could figure it out on their own without having to become "goodie-goodies"; Storm backed Jet up on his stance but noted that he liked to eat. Sonic managed to appeal to Jet once he stated that he needed his help and the world needed the "Legendary Wind Master." Flattered, Jet was prepared to help the world.[2]

Jet and his crew witnessed Eggman and Tails build a Multi-Portal Generator with the Warp Topaz that would take everyone where they need to go an instant. Sonic returned from his run and had come up with a plan for who should be assigned with who and what Zeti they should go after. He told the Babylon Rogues that they were to take on Master Zik, and though he was old, he was craftier than all of the Deadly Six combined. Jet scoffed at this, saying that he and his team could take him on easily. Once Tails and Eggman set the coordinates for everyone to move out, Jet and his team went through the Warp Portal to Winterburg. The Babylon Rogues immediately tried to get the jump on Master Zik, but the Zeti used his powers to take over their Extreme Gear and knock them off. After jumping onto Jet's board, the hawk is immediately angered. When noting that they were surrounded by Zombots, Jet taunted Master Zik by asking if he could not fight on his own. Master Zik told them that he retired from the battlefield long ago but would not mind teaching the Rogues a few lessons. Jet and his crew jumped at Master Zik; while Wave and Storm were hit by their own boards, Jet knocked the Zeti off his Extreme Gear with his Bashōsen and took it back, gloating in the process. However, Jet is alerted to Wave and Storm, who were surrounded by Zombots.[3]

RoguesStickTogether

Jet stays behind with Wave and Storm to face a Zombot horde, from Sonic the Hedgehog #28.

Jet furiously demanded that Master Zik let them go, only for the Zeti to taunt him for only now understanding the consequences of threatening his elders. Wave and Storm fended off the Zombots below with their respective equipment; Wave told Jet to leave before it was too late but also berated him as she told him earlier that a full frontal assault was a bad idea; Storm asked what they were going to do as he could not do what he usually did, which was to punch others. Master Zik took glee in watching Jet try to act on his own, saying one should not sacrifice their teammates unless it benefited them and that all he had to do was say one command for Jet to lose everything. He then asked if he could beg for mercy to entertain him. Refusing to give up, Jet stated that the Babylon Rogues did not beg, give up or lose and hit Master Zik with a large gale of wind from his Bashōsen. Storm and Wave then managed to support Jet by hitting the Zeti further away, but not without grabbing the Chaos Emerald away from him first. Defeated and defenseless, Master Zik was soon grabbed by Zombots while he told Jet that he was not tactical or skillful, but lucky. Wave gave the Chaos Emerald to Jet telling him to leave without her and Storm as her board was lost to the Zombots and Storm's was nearly smashed to pieces. Jet pondered about this while looking at the Chaos Emerald and made a decision; he tied the Emerald to his board and sent it through the Warp Portal. As he readied himself to fight with his teammates, Jet told them that like he told the Zeti, the Babylon Rogues do not lose. According to him, Sonic will get the Emerald and do his hero thing, but they will show the Zombots a real challenge in the meantime.[4]

Out of the Blue[]

After Super Sonic and Super Silver had reversed the effects of the Metal Virus all around the world, the Zombots were no more and were cured. Storm gleefully hugged his teammates, happy that they were not infected. The group noted Master Zik has disappeared before Wave commended Jet on sticking with her and Storm to fight instead of go directly to Angel Island himself. Jet was initially taken aback by the kind words, only to swiftly descend into boasting, which Wave was exasperated by but Storm encouraged.[5] Some time later, the Babylon Rogues were invited by Tangle to a party in Spiral Hill Village. Jet complained that there was no sculpture of him, even though he risked his life to save everyone. Suddenly, the group was alerted to a large crash in the town, revealed to be Eggman in a large mech, who had come to destroy them all.[6] Not planning to help Sonic's friends a second time, Jet told his team that they would steal the exhibits from the Mineral Museum while the others were busy fighting Eggman. When Jet and co. entered the museum, however, it turned out that Rouge had already acquired the precious exhibits in advance.[7]

Another Grand Adventure for Jet the Hawk[]

Jet was in his room aboard the blimp making a calzone in the microwave. He read a birthday card from his dad on his desk. The microwave rang and Jet turned to get it, but a Cyan Wisp was holding his calzone. The Wisp flew off and Jet yelled at it. Jet chased the Wisp on his Type-J and found a wolf eating it in the forest. Jet said the "squid" stole from him and she will make it up to him. Whisper stood up and and confusingly asked if she will. Jet said again she will and says they wasted his time chasing his lunch instead of hunting for jems. He said she owes him jems and a calzone, but the Cyan Wisp gave him a banana instead, which Jet doesn't want.

Whisper told Jet to be quiet while the Badnik is around, but Jet slammed the banana on the ground and yelled he couldn't hear her. The Super Badnik then grabbed Jet and he yelled to let him down. Jet then told Whisper to use his Type-J to get him. Whisper tried to get on, but it flew up and she held onto it for dear life. Jet yelled at her to just stand on it and it would balance itself. He went on to ramble about how he didn't think the Extreme Gear was hard to use and kept boasting about himself. Jet said some knowledge his dad told him, but Whisper yelled back at him to be quiet and shot the leg of the Super Badnik with her Variable Wispon, causing it to fall into a trap with Jet still in its hand. Jet was impressed by Whisper's skills and said she would make a great Babylon Rogue. Whisper walked away, leaving the Type-J behind, and said she was busy. Jet couldn't hear her and asked her to speak up. The Cyan Wisp then returned the now-bitten calzone to Jet, but Jet said it still owed him a fresh one.[8]

Endless Summer[]

Jet went with the Babylon Rogues one day to Green Hill for a day at the beach. When they arrived, they argued about where to place their equipment. He soon overheard Sonic and Jewel watching them from a hill. He and the Rogues came face-to-face with them on the hill, with Tangle and Whisper standing with Sonic and Jewel. Jet said there is not enough room on the beach for all of them, which Tangle denied. Wave told Sonic's group to stay on their side while the Babylon Rogues stay on theirs, but Jet objected, saying Sonic would ruin their "vibe". Tangle, Jewel, and Whisper recalled their past encounters with the Rogues, and Tangle bluntly told them to get off the beach. Wave proposed that they settle the matter with some beach games, with the winning team being the one that gets to stay.

The first round was Disc Catch, which was won by Team Sonic. The second round, Swim Relay, was won by the Babylon Rogues. Team Sonic won the Sand Sculpting round, while the Rogues won at Surfing. The final round was a game of volleyball. Towards the end of the game, Sonic gave a pep talk to his team and they set a plan in motion to win. The plan involved isolating Jet and exploiting his ego by keeping Wave and Storm away from the net, thus making Jet feel left out, and then creating a false opening for him, allowing Team Sonic to score. With the last point being scored by Jewel, the game was won by Team Sonic. While they cheered and celebrated, Jewel notices the Babylon Rogues leaving and began to feel bad. She decided to let them stay and the three teams enjoyed the rest of the day at the beach eating marshmallows over a campfire.[9]

Sonic's 900th Adventure[]

The Babylon Rouges intercepted a transmission from Tails that mentioned Sonic getting rid of the Warp Topaz. They figured out where Sonic was headed and went into an abandoned mine. Jet was on his board with the other Rouges as Sonic came in. He demanded Sonic to hand the Topaz to them, but Sonic refused and ran away. He and the Rouges gave chase and they failed to grab him. They followed Sonic to a dead end and saw Rouge and Shadow were there, which didn't phase Jet, since he thought Rouge was there for the gold. Sonic then got away by drilling out of the mine and blocking his path with a portal. Jet figured the Topaz was more trouble than it was worth and said they should kick the "wanna-be ultimate life form" through the portal and take the gold. This insulted Shadow and as he prepared his Chaos Powers, Jet cowered in fear and told the others to get him. The Rouges were then blasted through the portal and landed in a snowy mountain.[10]

Relic Robbing Rumble[]

Personality[]

Jet is a greedy thief, having no qualms about plundering official institutions in order to earn a profit. Even in life threatening situations, Jet has asked if the reward would be big enough for him in return for his help, as he does not do everything for free. However, he does have some standards, as he does not want his gang to appear like brutes, like when he scolded Storm for throwing Jewel out of their blimp. He also only seems interested in using his money to maintain his Extreme Gear. He is also very confident, but possesses a short temper. Despite his selfish nature, Jet is loyal to his teammates, Wave and Storm.[1][2]

Jet is extremely arrogant, crabby and prideful, as he refuses to have himself and his gang appear to be incompetent. As such, he is quick to grab an opportunity to prove himself after having his image besmirched, even when the situation seems inappropriate. Namely, after accidentally kidnapping Jewel, Jet, in an effort to make himself appear competent, tried to have Jewel's rescuers compete against him in a race in order to show off his skills, even though Wave insisted that they were "only" thieves and not kidnappers.[1] However, he does not want to be perceived as too helpful and kind.

Jet is known to be quite snobbish and egotistical, and usually chooses to mock his rivals to prove his superiority, no matter the circumstance; he once even mocked Sonic when he was infected by the Metal Virus, showing himself to be extremely rude, selfish and disrespectful.[2] He also does not consider himself a hero who is obligated to save the world.

Powers and abilities[]

Jet has proven himself to be a capable and swift Extreme Gear rider. He is also a capable leader and a professional thief hat together allow him to lead his team into successful heists.[1]

Equipment and weapons[]

Jet's choice of equipment is his Type-J Extreme Gear, which he rides to perfection. He also wields the Bashōsen, a set of fans which he uses to create gusts of wind.[1]

Relationships[]

His Father[]

Jet's relationship with his father is mostly unknown, but it does seem that he tends to keep in touch with his son, as evidenced by him writing a letter to him on his birthday. In return, Jet cares for and respects his father, regarding him as a "wise old man".

Wave the Swallow[]

Wave the Swallow is one of Jet's trusted teammates and the voice of reason in the Babylon Rogues. Though he knows he can count on her to do a job well done, he does not appreciate her nagging over his wilder ideas. Wave only sees this as her being the voice of reason but Jet's impatience does not care much for this and will instead tease her, even when he realizes that she is right. Their arguments also often distracts them from more important matters. Despite this, Jet and Wave do care about each other enough to ride or fight together to the end.[1][4]

Storm the Albatross[]

Storm the Albatross is another one of Jet's trusted teammates in the Babylon Rogues, and his right-hand man. Storm always has Jet's back no matter the decision, even if it makes them both look ignorant. Jet is always appreciative of Storm's support and desire to please him. However, he does not like it when Storm does this and makes their group look incompetent. Sometimes, Storm is also too overzealous and interprets Jet's orders too literally. Despite this, Jet and Storm do care about each other enough to ride or fight together to the end.[1][2][4]

Sonic the Hedgehog[]

Jet and Sonic the Hedgehog have a great rivalry between each other, mainly based on their shared passion for speed. While Sonic sees Jet as a fun individual to throw jokes at and does not take him too seriously, Jet sees himself as a superior to Sonic and has no problem mocking him at any given time by using his full name. Though Sonic knows that Jet is a thief, he still holds a great level of respect for him and trusts him enough to work alongside him when a greater threat poses a challenge. Jet's ego and little care for anybody other than himself and his gang has him see Sonic as more of a "goodie-goodie". Nonetheless, Jet's large ego is also the reason why Sonic's requests and compliments are enough to convince him to help him. Despite this, Jet also holds a certain level of respect for Sonic, enough to trust him to save the world.[2][4]

Master Zik[]

Jet and his gang first met Master Zik during a fight with him in Winterburg. There, Zik pointed out Jet's poor leadership when he accidently left Wave and Storm behind. Zik then tried to provoke Jet, who refused to accept defeat and beg for mercy. Instead, he allowed his allies to deal with Master Zik. He also did not chase after him afterwards, knowing that he would not get in the way of the Babylon Rogues again.[3][4][5]
