Ippolita

Template:Character Ippolita (イッポリータ, Ipporīta^?) is a human resident of Spagonia who appears in Sonic Unleashed. She is the grandchild of Irma and is very responsible for her young age; whenever her grandmother is feeling ill, Ippolita will run all over the place to do both her and her grandmother's chores.

A little girl who lives with her grandmother, Irma. She is exceptionally responsible for her age, and never seems to stop running errands. Ippolita dreams of attending the university when she grows up, so she can "get in a 'ploma."

History

PS3/Xbox 360

Sometime prior to Sonic Unleashed, Ippolita came to live with her grandmother. While living with her grandmother, Ippolita had to run many of her grandmother's errands, because her grandmother suffered from a sickness that made her movements hurt, which also made her very cranky. Additionally, since Irma's pain usually reached it peak at night, it would not be uncommon for Ippolita to run around at night to do her grandmother errands. Ippolita, however, cared deeply for grandmother and knew that she did not want to be mean, so she always took her chores in stride and did her best to help her.

Before the beginning of Sonic Unleashed, Ippolita witnessed Professor Pickle being kidnapped by Dr. Eggman and his robots, and then being flown to Mazuri. Later, after the Earth was shattered by Dr. Eggman, Ippolita met Sonic the Hedgehog and Chip who came to Spagonia to look for Professor Pickle. Ippolita asked them why they were in such a rush and she deduced that it was because Sonic and Chip were panicking about the planet's shattering, so she advised them to remain calm in such situations, just as her grandmother had taught her. Ippolita soon after met up with Sonic and Chip again, who were looking for clues to where Professor Pickle had been taken, and she helped them by telling them what she had seen when Professor Pickle was being kidnapped. She could not stay for long, however, as she had more chores to do.

While Sonic and Chip were in Mazuri to save Professor Pickle, Ippolita met Boss from Empire City and had a conversation with him, where she told him things such as that her favorite flowers were the White Flowers and her other favorite things, before Boss left.

Ippolita soon returned to doing her chores for her grandmother, which mostly included doing her shopping. Whenever she met Sonic and Chip in this period, Ippolita would find herself very busy and often had to work hard to remember what she had to buy as her grandmother would get mad at her if she forgot anything. A while later, Ippolita found herself approached by Sonic and wondered if she could help him with something. To Ippolita's surprise, she received a box of treats from Sonic (which was actually from Boss, who had taken pity on Ippolita and her grandmother's strict treatment, and had Sonic deliver them) because she had worked hard for her grandmother, and Ippolita remarked it was the first time she got a gift for that. She noticed how good they smelled and asked for Sonic's permission before beginning to eat them and remarked that they tasted good: She then told Sonic not to tell her grandmother about this since she could get mad for receiving gifts.

Sonic and Chip later returned to Ippolita, who thanked Sonic for the gift, but then saw that he had brought her another box of treats. Ippolita was thankful to get another and took it home to eat it, but not before telling Sonic once again to keep it a secret.

Ippolita continued afterward with her normal routine by doing her grandmother's chores and buying medicine for her, while thanking Sonic for the gifts whenever she saw him. However, Irma eventually discovered Ippolita's gifts, and Ippolita was scolded for taking gifts from strangers and was told strictly that too many snacks was not good for her before Irma threw her gift away. Sad over the outcome, Ippolita resumed her chores, but then met Sonic again who had brought her yet another gift. Ippolita told him that while she was grateful, she explained why she could not receive any more gifts from him, and declined it while apologizing.

Later on, Ippolita met up with Sonic and Chip again and asked him politely how he was doing, but then saw Sonic had another present with him. Ippolita told him again that she could not receive any more gifts from him, but was surprised to see that it was White Flowers. She happily received them and told Sonic that she loved them, but then noticed that the flowers were from Empire City and wondered about why Sonic kept giving her stuff since they hardly talked and how weird it was that he knew her favorite things.

Not long after, Ippolita noticed that her grandmother's health had decline to the point where she had been sick for days. She wanted to help her, but because she did not know what medicine would work, she was left running around wondering what to do. Luckily, Ippolita ran into Sonic and Chip, and she asked Sonic if he could help her find the right medicine. Sonic accepted her request, and with some leads from Boss, he returned with the right medicine, much to Ippolita's joy. Relieved that her grandmother would recover now, Ippolita told Sonic about her grandmother's illness and how it made her cranky. Ippolita was then surprised to hear that Sonic thought Irma was just being mean, but Ippolita assured him that she was usually nice and explained how she only scolded her because she cared about her.

After Sonic handed over the medicine to Ippolita, she wondered if she could ask him something before asking Sonic if the gifts was not from him, but was actually from Boss. After Sonic confirmed it, she exclaimed that she knew it as she had recalled telling Boss about her favorite flowers, and since he came from Empire City, they could only have come from him. Wanting to say thanks to Boss for his presents, Ippolita requested to Sonic that he should say "thanks" to Boss on her behalf when he met him.

A while later, Ippolita met up with Sonic again and thanked him for all his help. She also told him that her grandmother could now walk again and that they were now shopping together. She then expressed her wish to Sonic about meeting Boss again so she could thank him in person.

Ippolita later watched on in horror with the rest of her town as Dark Gaia began to cast the world into darkness  while maturing into Perfect Dark Gaia, where she was protected by Federica, but rejoiced as the world returned to normal following Perfect Dark Gaia's defeat at the hands of Super Sonic and the Gaia Colossus.

PS2/Wii

During the events of Sonic Unleashed, Ippolita, alongside Lucia, met Sonic the Hedgehog and Chip when they first arrived in Spagonia where the duo asked them where they could find Professor Pickle's laboratory. During their conversation, Ippolita was mistakenly taken by Sonic and Chip as Lucia's sister, though this was quickly cleared up. As Lucia revealed that she not know where the laboratory was, Ippolita said she could not help them either as she did not even know what a "labo-tree" was.

Sometime later, Ippolita and Lucia met Sonic and Chip again, who asked them where they could find the Sacred Shrine. As Lucia gave them the directions, Ippolita confirmed that Lucia was speaking the truth. Then, when Lucia gave them the Moon Tablet as she believed that they would need it, Ippolita took their need of it as a bad sign.

After Sonic and Chip had restored Spagonia's continent, Ippolita made Lucia bring Sonic and Chip to her because she wanted to give them a present. As she handed over the present, which was Secret Soundtrack 38, Ippolita told them that it served to remind them that they were friends.

Ippolita later watched on in horror with the rest of her town as Dark Gaia began to cast the world into darkness while maturing into Perfect Dark Gaia, where she was protected by Federica, but rejoiced as the world returned to normal following Perfect Dark Gaia's defeat at the hands of Super Sonic and the Gaia Colossus.

Mission

Miracle Cure

• How to obtain mission: After clearing the mission "A Final Gift", talk to Ippolita.
• Objective: Talk to Ippolita in Spagonia, then talk to Boss who says where the cure is. Go then to Chun-nan and talk to Zonshen to get the Miracle Cure. Return to Ippolita to hand over the cure and then go talk to Boss.
