— Description, Sonic Forces: Speed Battle

The Illusion Mine is an Item Box power-up that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a Trap Item used primarily to obstruct opposing rivals' path.

Description

The Illusion Mine take the form of a cluster of small crimson energy cubes, both as an icon and on the tracks.

Overview

A trio of Illusion Mines, from Sonic Forces: Speed Battle.

In gameplay, the Illusion Mine can only be obtained at random from Item Boxes by Espio. As with most other Items, Metal Sonic can also use the Illusion Mine if he uses the Steal Item to steal it from the aforementioned user.

Once obtained, the player can utilize the Illusion Mine by pressing its icon on the bottom of the HUD. When used, the Illusion Mine will drop its cube clusters some distance ahead of the user's current location on all the lanes that the user is not currently on. If a character, including the user themselves, touches one of these cube clusters, they will inflict illusion on the character. To avoid the Illusion Mine, the playable character must either jump over its cube clusters or run in-between them.

The Illusion Mine can also be upgraded by leveling the user up to level 4, 10 and 16 respectively. For each upgrade, the illusion effect of the Illusion Mine will last longer.

Trivia

  • The energy cubes made by the Illusion Mine are the same as those used by Infinite, possibly as a reference to the nature of his power.
