Idrissa "Idris" Akuna Elba is an British-American actor, voice actor, writer, producer, rapper, singer, songwriter and DJ who has done voice work for the Sonic the Hedgehog film series.

History[]

For Elba's role as Knuckles in Sonic 2, he was looking to mine for backstory and identity, and find "everything that an actor needs in order to create a character and a kind of craft performance". According to director Jeff Fowler, "[Elba] was just so eager to absorb it all, and workshop him into best version of the character. Which was awesome. It was great to see how much he cared about getting it right". In Fowler's own words, Elba "absolutely nailed it" when voicing Knuckles.[1]
