— Ice Cream Vendor, "Blackout"

The Ice Cream Vendor[1] is a character that appears in the Sonic Boom series. He is an anthropomorphic cat who runs his own ice cream cart, which often gets destroyed, in Hedgehog Village.

Appearance[]

The Ice Cream Vendor is an anthropomorphic cat of average height with light blue fur, white fur on his front torso and short muzzle, and orange eyes. He possesses two bangs of hair across his forehead, a spike of fur tufted twice at its tip on both sides of his head and his neck, and a small black nose. His attire consists of a red-rimmed hat shaped like a penguin wearing a toque, white gloves, a white apron with the mark of his ice cream cart, large baggy green socks, and brown-soled tan shoes.

History[]

TV series[]

Season one[]

SB S1E04 Ice Cream Vendor and Mike

The Ice Cream Vendor serving Mike.

In the Village Center, the Ice Cream Vendor was serving Mike the Ox when Fire Bot attacked, making him run away. After Team Sonic handled the robot, the Ice Cream Vendor resumed his business.[2] During the Eggman's Tomato Sauce fad, the Ice Cream Vendor would serve Mike again.[3]

Between his breaks at Meh Burger, the Ice Cream Vendor's ice cream caught fire as a result of the Village reversing its band on flammable frozen treats, much to his grief.[4] Back in business, the Ice Cream Vendor later got his cart totalled by Dave the Intern in Octopus Bot.[5] Fortune came for the Ice Cream Vendor when Seaside Island was hit by a heatwave, allowing him to sell his ice cream to a heat-stricken Team Sonic despite it melting instantly. No sooner though, his cart was taken by Bee Bots.[6] After the Ice Cream Vendor replaced his cart, it got smashed again by T.W. Barker and Octopus Bot just as he was serving some children, forcing him to run to safety.[7]

Season two[]

NotAgain

While at work, the Ice Cream Vendor's cart got destroyed (again) by the Egg Tank's bouncing shots.[8] The Ice Cream Vendor later tried serving Dr. Eggman and his new minions when Eggman decided to destroy his cart. As the Ice Cream Vendor tried negotiating with Eggman though, Sonic scared Eggman off.[9] When the Froglodytes then invaded the Unnamed Village, one of the evil frogs would smash the Ice Cream Vendor's cart, much to its owner's grief.[10] The Ice Cream Vendor would later riot during a power outage in the Village, during which he threatened bystanders with his explosion-prone cart.[11]

Learning that their village was named after Sticks' evil ancestor, Jebediah Badger, the Ice Cream Vendor began scorning Sticks while inspiring the locals to rename the town. After voting in a referendum for a new town name though, which Eggman used to get elected as Village leader, the Ice Cream Vendor saw Eggman attempt to destroy the Village, during which his cart got crushed. When Sticks helped her team stop Eggman's plan and remove him from power however, the Ice Cream Vendor regretted scorning Sticks, who gave the Village a proper name.[12] Getting into Scrambler some time after that, the Ice Cream Vendor was able to attend an exclusive promotional event through it.[13] The Ice Cream Vendor later hired D-Fekt for his business. Although D-Fekt did well in the beginning, the Ice Cream Vendor fired him when he messed up several orders. D-Fekt soon returned though and took revenge on the Ice Cream Vendor by messing him up and smashing his cart.[14]

Personality[]

Speaking in a calm Southern vernacular, the Ice Cream Vendor enjoys his profession, always offering service with a smile and showing distress whenever his cart gets destroyed.[4] He is an uncompromising businessman though, refusing to give refunds, even if his customers do not get to eat the treats after he has served them.[6]

Trivia[]

  • The Ice Cream Vendor's basic character model is derived from Wild Cat's.
