For the boss in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, see Iceball.

The Ice Ball[1] (アイスボール Aisu Bōru?) is an enemy that appears in Sonic Adventure. It is a mass-produced robot created by Dr. Eggman.

Appearance

Ice Balls are small robots with gray and purple heads and cyan eyes. Each of them ride a gray and white sphere-shaped vehicle with an orange stripe across the equator. On the top of their vehicles is the cockpit where the robots themselves sit (which is protected by a glass dome), and on their vehicles' bottom are two small tracks. Their vehicles also have an ice turret on their front and below their cockpit.

Overview

ICSONIC18

Sonic getting frozen by an Ice Ball in Icecap.

Ice Balls are only encountered in Sonic's version of the Icecap. In gameplay, they scatter along the ground, releasing puffs of cold air. If the player touches their cold air, Sonic will get frozen.

To destroy the Ice Balls' vehicles, the player has to hit them with the Spin Jump or Homing Attack. Doing this will expose the Ice Ball pilot, which will harmlessly waddle around.

Trivia

  • The Ice Ball pilots bear a close resemblance to Orbot.
