The Hyper Zone Projector[1][2] is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It was a device created by the Guardian Hawking, capable of transporting large areas to parallel Zones.
Description[]
Appearance[]
The structure of the Hyper Zone Projector is colored entirely silver, and resembles a vertical beam with an oval-shaped device at its base, connecting the central spire to two large curved support beams via six smaller beams.[2]
Features and Traits[]
When activated, the Hyper Zone Projector transports areas at the size of cities to parallel Zones. However, it requires a large amount of energy to function.[2]

Past[]
With all of the Floating Island under threat of the fallout caused by the Dingo Regime's nuclear missiles, the Guardian Hawking created the Hyper Zone Projector based on concepts from Dimitri's notes to send the inhabitants of the Floating Island to a different Zone while the island could be cleaned of the radiative waste. Upon creation, the Hyper Zone Projector was placed atop a tall building, and activated, sending both Echidnaopolis and Cave Canem into separate parallel Zones.[2]
Lost Paradise[]
Hundreds of year later, the effects of the Hyper Zone Projector were undone as a result of the Omega wave caused by the Ultimate Annihilator. This threatened to destroy both Echidnaopolis and Cave Canem by teleporting both cities back to their origin Zone on top of each other. In order to allow one of the two cities to survive, Hawking activated the Hyper Zone Projector again, which destroyed Cave Canem, but left Echidnaopolis barely standing. The populations of both cities were safely returned to the same Zone, along with a damaged Echidnaopolis. However, Hawking apparently had to use his own life energy to power the Hyper Zone Projector, and as such, his action resulted in him being placed in a coma.[3][4][2][5]
Destruction[]
The Hyper Zone Projector was presumably destroyed in 3237 when the Eggman Empire razed all of Echidnaopolis to the ground as part of the Angel Island Takeover.[6]
