Howard Johnson by Wyndham, or more commonly known as Howard Johnson's, is an American hotelbrand with over 200 hotels in 15 countries.[1]

In the 1990s, Howard Johnson hotels partnered with Sega to promote the Game Gear, Sega's handheld gaming console. This collaboration, known as "Kids Go HoJo with Sega," aimed to advocate families staying at Howard Johnson hotels during summer vacations. The promotion allowed kids to rent Game Gear consoles to play while on vacation, providing entertainment during their stays. As part of the promotion, Sega also released a series of VHS tapes containing game tips and walkthroughs, which were also available for purchase.

"Kids Go HoJo with Sega" was a collaborative summer promotion between Sega of America and the Howard Johnson's hotel chain, aimed at increasing room sales by making the brand more appealing to children.[2] This promotion ran across all Howard Johnson's locations in the United States and Canada during three periods: May 24 to September 6, 1993, May 27 to September 5, 1994, and May 27 to September 4, 1995. As part of the campaign, life-size Sonic the Hedgehog cutouts were prominently displayed in the hotel lobbies, allowing guests to take souvenir photographs with the character.

Sega provided Howard Johnson's properties with Game Gears and a small library of games, which included Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble, for guests to play at no charge. Through the Kids Go HoJo Fun Club, children were also provided with a collectible series of the chain's FunPacks (small collections of activities and toys meant to entertain restless children during long stays) containing Sega-themed puzzles and games, and a free one-year subscription to Sega Visions magazine. Additionally, a pair of VHS promotional features were available to rent or purchase: Sega Game Gear Tips Volume 1 and Sega Game Gear Tips Volume 2.
