Hopper is a character that appears in the Sonic the Comic series published by Fleetway Editions. He is a grey rabbit from the Emerald Hill Zone and a close friend of Shorty the Squirrel before his transformation into Shortfuse the Cybernik. Hopper's kidnapping by Troopers (along with the other Emerald Hill Folk) ultimately led Shorty to become the Cybernik, after Shorty decided to try and save Hopper (and the others) from being transformed into Badniks.[1] Instead, Shorty was captured and turned into the prototype Cybernik while Hopper was installed as the organic battery of a green Burrobot. Despite this, Shorty managed to retain his free will and, back in the Emerald Hill Zone, freed Hopper from his Badnik shell.[2]
Shorty later bade farewell to Hopper before beginning his one-man war on Robotnik's operations. Hopper was the first person to learn Shorty's new name: "Shortfuse the Cybernik".[3]
