The Hopper (ホッパー, Hoppā^?) is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a spring-shaped enemy which roams Ares Island.

Appearance

Hopper is a robot resembling elastic spring device with four layers and a round red top consisting of small details on it. Three bottom layers of the are light copper while the fourth, top layer is colored white.

Overview

In Sonic Frontiers, the Hopper is an enemy type present in Ares Island. Prior encountering the player, they are found bouncing around back and forth in the Open Zone field. When the robot notices the Sonic on its sight, it begins approaching towards him and performs huge hops in attempt to crush him.

With the target cursor being set on the Hopper, the player can perform the Homing Attack on it, as Sonic is then sent flying into the air during the collision. While in the mid-air, the player can perform the Stomp and dash down to squeeze the Hopper, causing the robot to explode into pieces due to the heavy compressive pressure. Much like other enemies, Hopper drops Skill Pieces to be obtained.

Upon performing a Cyloop around the Hopper, it will dissappear. It will suddenly come back, with three additional orange-colored Hoppers appearing. The main one will remain wide open. Upon performing a Homing Attack at it, the player will bounce from Hopper to Hopper, until they all explode into pieces. If the player does not attack the main Hopper, it will disappear along with the three extra ones, reverting back to its standard state.

Powers and abilities

Due the robot's shape, the Hoppers are capable of making high leaps.
