The Homing Smash (ホーミングスマッシュ Hōmingu Sumasshu?) or Homing Smash Attack is a move used by Sonic the Hedgehog that, when activated, allows Sonic to manipulate his Homing Attack's direction. It has only appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) as one of Sonic's Custom Actions. It can only be used after Sonic obtains the White Gem.

Description

In order to use the Homing Smash, Sonic has to possess the White Gem Level Up Item. Once obtained, the player then has to select the White Gem with the directional pad and activate it by holding Xbox-Button-RT.png/R1ps3.png.

To perform this move, Sonic must be in midair. Using this move will freeze Sonic in his current position and he will spin around while surrounded by a multicolored aura. Once in this position, Sonic can choose any direction in which to face in a vertical, 360-degree area. When released from this position, Sonic will perform a Homing Attack in the chosen direction and with increased range and power. This move can also hit multiple enemies. In the multiplayer mode, the Homing Smash lacks the multicolored aura and is replaced by a blue one.

Trivia

  • It is interesting to note that when fighting against Sonic in the Silver Episode, Sonic will use an unavoidable, long-range attack nearly identical to the Homing Smash that lacks the multicolored aura.
