I never get what I want!

— Hokey, Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric

Hokey is a character from the Sonic Boom series that appears in the Sonic Boom series. She is an old anthropomorphic jellyfish who lives in Crater Lake with her husband Pokey.

Hokey is an old anthropomorphic jellyfish with black eyes. Resembling mostly a floating head, she has purplish white skin with several wrinkles and an amethyst medusa shaped like a cap. She also has several hair-like and braided purple tendrils which are tied together below her head. Hokey also constantly resides in a bronze walking armor. This armor has a spherical and transparent fishbowl filled with water (where Hokey reside) which rests on a metallic tub-like torso. This torso has thin arms, each with two claws for hands, and a pair of thin inverted legs with grey feet.

Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric

Over 175 years ago, Hokey met Pokey and the two of them got married. On their wedding day, Hokey gave Pokey her family heirloom, a Power Glyph, as a gift. Moving to Crater Lake, they found the Radiant Crystal, but due to its constant glow keeping them up at night, they tossed it up the local waterfall. Over the long course of their marriage, Hokey and Pokey would argue with each other over even the smallest things.

Over 175 years after their wedding, Hokey and Pokey met Team Sonic who came to their home looking for the Radiant Crystal, though Hokey was more interested in getting road ice cream. Shortly afterwards, Hokey had a huge argument with Pokey over how he should behave which ended with Hokey sending her husband in the doghouse on Bygone Island.

Following Lyric's defeat, Hokey and Pokey joined the celebration on Bygone Island where the elderly couple started arguing over which ice cream flavor they should celebrate with.

Hokey is a grizzled and stubborn old woman, who complains about how she never gets what she wants. She comes off as slightly senile to the extend that she will say things that are completely out of context. Regardless, she can be quite demanding and assertive as she continuously tells Pokey how to behave and sent him in the doghouse after an argument. She appears to be very fond of ice cream.

Powers and abilities

Being a jellyfish, Hokey is capable of aquatic respiration, allowing her to breathe underwater. However, she is unable to breathe air.

Hokey wears an ancient bipedal robotic carriage with a transparent water tank that she can reside within. With it, Hokey is able to move around on dry land. It appears to be controlled by Hokey's thoughts alone.

Pokey is Hokey's husband, whom she has been married with for over 175 years. The two of them embodies the concept of an elderly couple and is each other's soul mate. While Hokey shares an everlasting spark with her husband, their many years of being together has caused them to always bicker and argue (either out of irritation or boredom), and they are always poking fun at each other and arguing over who knows best.[1] Hokey especially tries to run Pokey's life by keeping him on a short leash, much to the latter's frustration. She seemingly has him under her thumb as she successfully send him in the doghouse after an argument.
