Hero of the Year Award

Sonic the Hedgehog with the Hero of the Year Award, from Sonic the Comic #14. Art by Brian Williamson and colour by Steve White.

The Hero of the Year Award is an object that appears in the Sonic the Comic series published by Fleetway Editions. It was awarded to Sonic the Hedgehog in recognition of his many brave deeds in defense of planet Mobius.

It was presented to Sonic by a wolf at a ceremony held in the Metropolis Zone, under Robotnik's nose. In fact, the ceremony was merely a trap for which the award was bait designed to lure Sonic in. Sonic managed to escape with the award but, realizing that the escape was too easy and that the award statue contained a tracking device, Sonic refused to lead Robotnik's forces back to his secret base. He defeated the robots sent after him and left the award in pieces.[1]
