Hero Shadow[1] (ヒーローシャトウ[2] Hīrō Shadō?) is a transformation that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is the opposite of Dark Shadow, achieved when Shadow the Hedgehog's mind is fueled by thoughts of justice.

Appearance[]

When utilizing the Hero Shadow transformation, Shadow does not change much physically. However, his fur and his eyes gain a cyan coating of energy, and he gains an explosion-like blue aura.

Overview[]

While in this form, Shadow becomes invincible and can perform a large-scale version of Chaos Control to fly forward at breakneck speeds during Stages or slow down time during boss battles. He can also use any weapon without draining its ammunition. Hero Shadow can be obtained by filling Shadow's Hero Gauge. Shadow can also enter this form in his Super State.

Archie Comics[]

In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics, Shadow is briefly seen entering his Hero Shadow form while attempting to fight Eclipses mind control.

Trivia[]

  • When Shadow teleports using this state, anyone who talks to him will stop until he finishes his move.
  • In Shadow the Hedgehog, the player can cancel out of Chaos Control early by pressing Gamecube X Button/Circle/B.
  • This is also used in some boss battles, giving Shadow the advantage to defeat his enemies by pausing time and quickly defeating them.
    • Unlike Dark Shadow's Chaos Blast, Hero Shadow's Chaos Control will have two different effects depending on stages: in mission stages, Shadow will teleport to further areas. In boss battles, Shadow will slow down time.
