The Helicorn is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, acorn-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman typically stationed in Autumn Forest Zone.

Appearance[]

Being Badniks based on acorns, the Helicorns resemble small orange nuts that feature a brown cupule on top of them and two aggressive looking eyes with black pupils. Additionally, a yellow sharp spike can be found towards the bottom of the Helicorn, and a tiny yellow propeller that allows the Helicorn to fly into the air can be found on the top of the Badnik itself. Helicorns share a resemblance to the Nebula models deployed prior to the Lost Hex incident, sharing a similar round build, propeller, and a spike resembling their cannon, though Helicorns don't have any arms and hands.

Sonic and his friends running past several Helicorns stationed in Autumn Forest Zone, from Sonic the Hedgehog 30th Anniversary Special.

At some point in the past, the Helicorns were deployed in Autumn Forest Zone by Heavy King after his usurpation of the Eggman Empire. Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles would encounter several while traveling through Autumn Forest Zone. While most of the Badniks were simply ignored by the group, a single Helicorn would be destroyed by Knuckles while he was gliding through the air, releasing the Ricky that was powering the Badnik in the process.[1]

Game appearances[]

Sonic Speed Simulator[]

In Sonic Speed Simulator, Helicorns appear as enemies in Autumn Forest Zone. In gameplay, Helicorns hover in mid-air until the player approaches, at which point they will pursue the player until they're out of range. Some stationary Helicorns are arranged in chains that can be crossed using the Homing Attack. The Helicorn's appearance marks the first instance of a comic-original enemy appearing in a game.

Powers and abilities[]

Thanks to their propellers, the Helicorns are capable of flight, with them also being able to deploy small beams to attack their foes as well.
