The Heavy-Egg Hammer (ヘビーエッグハンマー Hebī Eggu Hanmā?) is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced Pawn Series Badnik model created by Dr. Eggman, and a stronger variant of the Egg Hammer.
Appearance
The Heavy-Egg Hammer looks virtually the same as the Egg Hammer, except with a slight purple tint in its color scheme, and most notably, it wears a helmet.
Overview
In Sonic Heroes, the Heavy-Egg Hammers are tough enemies that are encountered in the following levels:
Team | Stage(s) | Boss(es) |
---|---|---|
Team Sonic | Lost Jungle[note 1], Mystic Mansion, Final Fortress | Robot Storm |
Team Dark | ||
Team Rose | N/A[note 2] | |
Team Chaotix | Mystic Mansion, Final Fortress | Robot Storm |
In gameplay, the Heavy-Egg Hammers have the same attack pattern as the normal Egg Hammers, slowly walking towards the player when they spot them and attacking either by smashing their hammer into the ground or by swinging it around for a while, making them lose balance. They are by far the strongest enemies in the game, as they are virtually invulnerable to all normal attacks. However, they have only one weak spot and it lies underneath their helmet. Removing the helmet can be done in two ways: the first way is by knocking them over either with Power Type attacks or Thunder Shoot; the alternate way is to use the Speed Type character's Tornado Jump attack to blow off the helmet. The weak spot is indicated by a small blinking yellow and green light and can only be damaged by Power Type attacks. Using Team Blast can destroy any Heavy-Egg Hammers in the vicinity, regardless of whether or not they have their helmet on.
Like the normal Egg Hammers, the Heavy-Egg Hammers have a total of thirty hit points. Like other powerful enemies, they will always drop a random Power Core that is not the leader character's when destroyed.

Notes
- ↑ Only appears in the stage's Super Hard Mode version
- ↑ It is possible for Team Rose to encounter this type of enemy during normal gameplay in Mystic Mansion by using Cream to fly up to Team Sonic's route through the level.
